Back o' the brim

Okay, this may seem stupid, but I prefer to 'snap' the brim of my Henry down, as opposed to leaving it 'snapped' up. It seems like the Raiders hat had this going on, but the other films, not so much. Since I did the Raiders pinch, this seems right. Or should the back of the brim remain in the 'up' position? Guess it's a matter of taste, but after wearing it down for a couple weeks, it doesn't want to snap back up very well. Thoughts?

That is a good point David. I occassionally do the same for my Fed IV and I reckon it looks pretty smart.

The Raiders hat is accurate with the curl, or not. Personally, I wear mine straight out, or down, but that is personal preference. I don't like the atomic brim curl in the back at all. But none of the Indy hats had this so....Fedora

Sometimes I try to do this with my hat but it never stays down. But I like it either way

I believe the Raiders hat(s) varied as to what the back of the brim was doing. My F4 has a gentle up-curl which I think is perfect.

I just think it looked more 'me' I guess with the back brim flipped down, but I watched CS again last night and none of his hats had the back of the brim snapped down. But I'm coming to understand that it ultimatley matters to me how I look in my hat.....Harrison is a movie star after all. I'm goin' with my back brim down.....That's it....
And one more to Fedora from me....ANY behind the scenes details about Indy have, I'm sure, all of our attention. My Henry gets noticed for not being on my head recently....which is rarely

I have found that it all depends on the hat! No two hats are exactly alike and what works for one, may not for the other. Plus like Fedora said -- do what you like...it's your head -- your hat (or, hats) where them in the way or ways that make you happy! Just my two cents! W>

I always have curled my Federation IV's back brim up for some reason. It doesn't necessarily have to do with any of the Indiana Jones hats seen in the movies, but maybe I'm more accurate than I thought I was. Some of you are saying Indiana Jones curled the back of his brim, is this true? It's been a while since I've seen any of the films, but you may be right.

I tend to wear mine, as I said, straight or down, and its because I wear my hats in the rain. The first time I got into a frog strangler, with a nice curl on the back of the brim, I went inside and as I tipped my head down, I had a cup of water run down and puddle on my mom's new floor. So, I now turn em down. And shake my head like a horse before going inside. I don't like mopping.

So, the utilitariarn is much of my own style of hat wearing. Now, on the top center crease in the crown, I tend to drop my down in back, for water drainage. The water drains onto the back brim and off the hat! But remember, I am an old backpacker too. It affects alot of what I wear and do with my own gear. Fedora

Yes!! That drainage happened to me, uh, or my hat....within days of getting it which initially gave me the idea of flipping it down in back, then I had reservations because of screen accuracy. But I'm over that now. I love how it looks. Especially after some breaking in!!

In Raiders, there were different hats. Most of them had the curl, but in a couple of scenes, or shots, the back was down. So screen accuracy depends on which hat youre trying to look like.

I think of it like a sports car. Wind resistance. With the back of the brim snapped up, like a rear spoiler, it helps keep it on my head. Especially on the raiders hat with that super tight aggressive pinch.

I've always thought your Henry was the one that others should be judged by...seriously. But when I got mine, it felt right, especially after some rain, to flip the back down. Now I'm so used to it, and I love the sorta beaten down look it gives. I'm thinking I'll try the back flipped up on my upcoming Penman. This is my first real Indy hat. How's your Henry doing these days? Still babying it? I just let my roomie wear mine for a few minutes, to see how it looked on a head other than mine. It looks so authentic on someone else, but in the mirror or window reflection on me, I nitpick.

My PB fedora also has the upturned back brim, and I like that It's pretty easy to turn it downward though.
