LoL, this went over better on facebook, ...
But I've figured out how to make the images display upon opening the post, so you can better contrast and compare
IMO the veg-tanned sheepskin of the hero jacket has a decidedly more "foldy" or "crinkly" drape than the lambskin, but I'm sure over time, and a couple of rain-storms, we'll get a closer match

Nice…but why wait for a rainstorm? Just take it out tomorrow with the 'snow storm to end all snow storms' we're supposed to get. While everyone else is panicking, you'll be breaking in your jacket. A little chilled, but broken in.

Walked in the snow for a couple hours, doing a couple of errands just to justify breaking in my new Indy Jacket
THEN when I got home, I gave it a gentle spritzing all around, with DISTILLED WATER, while it was on a hanger...then put it on, careful not to rub up against the furniture, in an effort to let it dry naturally on me.
The leather has already toughened up a bit, and those crinkles are starting to appear!
The jacket still maintains its sheen, which I was hoping I wouldn't mitigate so much. I didn't want to BLAST it with the water treatment, or SOAK it till it was completely absorbed...JUSt a bit of a trial run with some gentle snow and distilled water...it's coming along NICELY, and some pics will definitely follow, perhaps in another post...

I used a super-fin grit sandpaper to 'buff out' the shine on my Todd's and it worked well. I didn't want to do the shower routine as the fit was perfect off the rack and did not want to risk it shrinking on me.
Your jacket looks good - lets see some natural lighting pics next!

I actually would shower it in cold water until it is damp not soaked. thats whgen the shrinking beginns. just damp! it really helps the leather break in and it bloats. the leather will feel more strogner when doing this.

I put mine in the washing machine with detergent. Broke it in with no damage. Mind you mine is a G&B so they are perhaps stronger than the Westeds.

yah, washed my USWings black goal Indy. Helped it tremendously. One thing though is the glue that's used to keep the "cuffs" in place on the sleeves loosened up a bit. I just made sure to refold the sleeves when it was still wet and the glue seemed to do it's thing again.

It's almost crazy how I was able to get the jacket to shorten up, almost to "regulation Raiders length" by spraying the vest portion of it, or whatever it's referred to, with water, letting it dry in shape, and putting it on...it's a pleasant surprise every time, it having taken about three treatments to get the jacket to shrink to fit, just like a pair of ol' 501 blues. I've posted pictures of the jacket after the second treatment. It hasn't changed much since the third, except that the back has shortened up a bit, and the side-straps look more convincingly at the right height, and what's more, they FEEL like they are at the right height. This jacket has suddenly turned MORE screen accurate, and I can't tell you how long I just spent in front of the mirror just now

look at the back flap, how much higher its placed relative to the collar on the acual raiders jacket, allowing better arm/shoulder movement
