Wested pants has almost become Raiders perfection! UPDATE
Hi guys.
we all know that the wested pants have the wrong cut. way wrong!! to bad becasue the wested pants have 2 extremley good things about them. 1 is that they are made with the same material as the orignals and 2 they have the best raiders color.
BUT the cut of the pants are WAY OF. they are TOO baggy in the waist and they are to narrow towards the feet. a really carrot effect which is not by any chance even close to how the originals raiders pants were.
why wested dont change their pattern when they had the original pants to copy last year beats me.
okay so were am I going with this?.....
My baby sister who is also a tailor took care of it for me. Im lucky that way so now the pants are with less of the baggy waist and carrot legs. She even made the pants with a millitary hem. GO sis!

Your sis may be able to drum up business from COWers who want that service done!
Re: Wested pants has become Raiders perfection!
hehe. nope. only for me she said. I joked about you see.
here are some pictures of me having them on with the rest of the gear.
notice the drape and baggyness. this is not normal for a wested to have.
Raiders all the way. I love'em.

Those are !!!!
Very nice trousers Holt. So it would be possible to have a tailor alter Wested pants to make real Raiders then, no?
By the way, that photo of the guy in gear is Not you. You Photoshopped a Raiders HF still to make it look like it was you in your house. No, seriously... That is great gear.

I second whipcrackers's query. Why hasn't anyone else done this to their Wested pants? I've got two pair. The unfortunate 'Carrot Effect' is their only drawback!! Great material, drape...well that's it. But, I'm taking mine to a tailor first thing. I'll bring my 'Complete making of Indiana Jones' book for reference Thanks Holt! Your gear is stellar!!!

Re: Wested pants has almost become Raiders perfection! UPDATE
Hopefully you have a good tailor David, that speaks english. I've been fighting for a week through the language barrier with my local. I took in 2 pairs of identical slacks, except one had a 30 waist, the other 32's. I wanted military hem on both, and the 32's taken in to fit like the 30's. somehow, the took in the 30's , and hemmed them too short ...so in the repair process of undoing what the did, and fixing what they didn't the first time, the 32's now have a goofy "pucker" going on along the butt seam, and the 30's that they let out in the leg, because they cut the excess material on the hem, now have like a 2" hem line...
next time i'm only looking for english speaking businesses.

Thanks Raidersbash! Also for the Facebook ad
Well, after seeing Holt's alterations, I think I have to take a chance. Maybe not surprisingly, I have a pair of 34s and 36s for estra bagginess. The 36s are tighter!!! The smaller pair is baggier. I'm taking in the tighter ones as the guinea pig. It is decided Wested sure has a sense of humor when it comes to sizing

EDIT
thats the exact picture I showed my sis and she did a bang up job!! just LOOK at the drape and crease at the left leg compared to Fords.
whats she did ws the split open the middle seam in the butt and she split open the inner and outer seam. she almost took the pants apart. thats all I know. I have to ask her what she did. I know she used quite some time on them.

Yup they drape in the exact same way. At a guess I'd say she probably removed a few inches of fabric here and there. If I was a little more skilled I would give it a go myself but I would likely end up ruining the trousers.
I have a pair of Westeds which I will be taking to the tailor soon as I'm done moving house. If I can get them looking anywhere near yours I'd be happy.
Again, great stuff.

Re: Wested pants has almost become Raiders perfection! UPDATE
They look fantastic, Holt! I personally would have them taken in just a little bit more around the thigh to make the cut even straighter, but I'm just being super-picky. Noel Howard once told me that the cut of the originals was not as baggy as everyone thought - it was more the drape of the material that gave that effect.

Re: Wested pants has almost become Raiders perfection! UPDATE
Holt those pants look great! Your sis did a bang up job on them. The drape is very accurate to the WoS promo picture, even in the way the pants break at the foot. The fact that you just gave her the pants, and she used this picture shows she knows exactly what she is doing.

Hey Holt it seems like you always pull out all the stops that make us and Seriously does your sister want to work at Wested?? Those are probably the most very accurate pants I have seen on anyone. I know Magnoli does outstanding stuff. Wow Holt, just absolutely amazing. You need to fax the info to tailors over here.

Re: Wested pants has almost become Raiders perfection! UPDATE
Job well done by your sis! I always wondered if there was enough material to be able to take out the bottom of the trousers.
So, she basically took out the center seam in the back and the side seams (inner & outer) & then sewed them back up?
Could you flip them inside out and show us the seams? I'd be interested in how much material is left near the cuff especially.
In any case your sis did a fantastic job.
Cheers!
Dan

And good luck with the pocket flaps -
I think the Wested's have even less fabric on the flap to play with for reshaping. This is what I managed to get out of the Noel Howard's after matching up the weave of the fabric to get the right size & curve...
The addition of the smaller button is what makes the difference, although to be SA it needs to be almost shirt button sized, meaning the hole has to be stitched up a little to accomodate it...

Ah, I think I didn't state it clearly. I'm not talking about the amount of material left on the hemmed portion but on the side seams down near the hemmed area. Is there enough fabric to open up the leg to make it straight like Holts and how much is left over after sewing up the inner & outer seams? That's all I wanted to see.rover smith wrote:Holt said she did them with the Military hem. I wouldn't mind getting a pair, but the pocket flaps bug me. That and because of my height id rather get them unfinished and have them hemmed, but these pants are 35 long unfinished. I think id need a 40 to get the four inch hem.

I've wanted to order a pair of Wested trousers for long time but I've always been turned off by the sizing. I'd buy a pair right now if they would fit me but I'm a skinny fellow. I see that they offer a 28 waist which is my size. How does everyone feel about their waist sizing? I'm sticking to my Magnoli trousers until I feel comfortable buying Wested trousers. Perfect fit! Having said that you trousers look great Holt! Raiders spot on!
