Azuma has great customer service. I needed to have him make me a larger size XL shirt. He and his tailors got it done and shipped in record time, and I have it in my hands. I will be wearing it at the QM summit. The new buttons he is using look great. They are thinner and lighter in color. An excellent LC shirt. You won't be disappointed.

COW members who participated in my first run of Nurhachi Urn Resin Replica may be aware that "The Last Crusade" is the first Indy movie I saw in the theater. It is my favorite Indiana Jones movie, and is the reason why I became a serious Indiana Jones collector.
I meant to reply to this thread sooner. :[

Last Crusade was also the first Indy movie that I saw in theatres and I that movie is what made me the huge Indy fan that I am today. :D

I have to say that you and your tailors have done an outstanding job on this shirt. And for $55 and $6.50 for shipping (I am currently in the UK) £30 for a shirt is the Indy bargain of the Century!!! :notworthy:

Thank you for also offering a small sized shirt which great for peitite/vertically challenged gearheads such as myself! :TOH:

Outstanding work!!!

Hi Travis,
We do have samples for the new buttons, but I only have a few extras in hands, all others were used on Jake's shirt. I will post the pantone code that matches to the new buttons asap.

Hi Canyon,
Thank you for your compliment. I am lucky to have such great team(tailors) to work with us on this project. We can not make it happen without thier professionalism and patience.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but i was one of the first to buy your shirt and overall i am happy with it. The fit is great and i like the material used and the overall look of the shirt. My only critisism is the finishing on the button holes as the buttons have an annying tendency to catch the loose threads on the button hole.

Just a small thing but if the finishing were better it would make for a very good and durable shirt.

I have the same problem on my shirt too MK. When doing up the buttons you have to be pretty careful not to pull the stitching. This is my only critisism too. Other than this, I love the shirt.

I noticed that those loose threads on the button holes as well. The prototypes do not have such loosen threads, but it seems that all of the second batch of the 30 shirts have the threads issue. It is also on my own shirt too... I have already told the tailors about this threads issue, and it will be fixed in the future batches.

Here is a solution you can fix the threads issue by using a small scissors to remove the extra threads on the button holes. Once the extra threads are removed, then you won't have such annoying tendency to catch the loose threads when unbutton the shirt. ;) hope this will help.

Yep, I have the same problem with my button holes. Oh well, it's still a great shirt!

Also, my Azuma shirt is just a bit big on me, and according to the size chart (updated one) I can probably go down from a Large to a Medium. So when this next batch is due out (with the corrected buttons... and holes) I am planning on ordering a Medium this time around.

Great looking LC shirt, Azuma! I think you're onto a winner.

A few questions -
- How does this shirt compare in terms of weight / thickness / weave compared to a Todds? Is it a bit more of a drill cotton?
- Does it have a little less of a crazy-70's collar compared to the Raiders? (height of collar stand, set-square sized lapels)
- Would I have to allow for any shrinkage to occur after multiple washes?
cheers!

Here are some of the answers to your questions:

Since, I do not have Todd's shirt, I can not do a comparison between these two shirts. However, the fabric is quite similar to NH's shirt in terms of weight, thickness and weave. The weight for my large sized shirt is around 260g, 245g for a medium sized shirt, and 230g for a small sized shirt, while NH's medium shirt weighed 220g.

Regarding the collar and lapels, the collar stand is 3.5cm. When we make the patterns for prototypes last year, we made two different sized lapels, and pockets. We tried both 7.5cm and 8.5cm wide lapels, as well as 4.75" by 5.75" and 5" by 6" pockets. We decide to go with larger setting when we moved to produce the first batch of shirts.

As for the shrinkage, so far I haven't had any problem on that, but I have only washed my shirt for three times and only let it dried natually.

I hope this answers to some of your concerns.

Best regards,
Azuma

Also, your pants look perfect, as well. The color is just right. Could you also share the pants color and maker?

In fact ALL your gear looks awesome and you wear it very naturally. :notworthy: The more narrow bag strap works perfectly here. ;)
I ordered what just may be his first XL shirt. The large shirt is the one on the right. Depending on your height, you may need to contact Azuma regarding a custom order.
About the pants - read this www.indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=43711

That is the 7/8's bag strap I've been fussing over. Thanks for noticing.

The shirts are beautiful, indeed! Well done Azuma!

But, one question: why the buttons color of the two shirts look so different? Dark on left shirt and a more SA light-greenish khaki color on the right shirt. :-k

The shirt on the right originally had some darker buttons on it. My friend Justin salvaged these buttons off of a couple of khaki military shirts. He will go the extra mile on his gear for the results he is looking for. They look really good in person too.

Since PSBIndy made his comment about AB shirt and my shirt earlier in this thread, and I replied "AB shirt is based on the Raiders version, mine is based on the LC version. These two versions of Indy shirt have many differences in the design and color, although they may look the same.", I would like to share some of my opinion about Indy shirts, and as well as a comparison chart for Indy shirts from Raiders to KOTCS here.

Indy shirts from all four movies may look the same, but they are actually quite different in the details. While there are some fans who are still confused whether Neil Howard’s original Indy shirt is from Raiders or from the other two movies of the trilogy, here is my conclusion: Neil Howard’s original Indy shirt is 100% from Raiders of the Lost Ark, but somehow is replaced with dark buttons. Raiders shirt is constructed very differently compared to the other three shirts, in terms of stitching, epaulette settings, and number of the front buttons. Some fans may not notice that Raider’s shirt only have 6 front buttons while other Indy shirts have standard 7 front buttons.

I am one of the very first batch of the mass-produced MBA Indy shirt owners. The MBA Indy Shirt I had is an exact copy of the original Raider’s shirt Neil Howard had before he passed away. At the time I did not know that there were differences among the Indy shirts, so I actually wrote to Neil complaining about his shirt not being screen accurate, and he replied to me saying that every detail on the shirt I received is faithfully replicated (except the pen slot) from the original shirt he kept with him. With my poor knowledge in Indy Shirt at the time, I sold that exact copy of the original Raider’s shirt in 2000. Later, after I found out the differences among these three Indy shirts, I bought another two shirts labeled MBA in 2001, and plus one shirt labeled N/H last year, but none of them look the same as the first one I had. You can find the resemblance between the first MBA shirt I had and the Original Raiders Shirt shown in the photo below.

Image
Above is my very first MBA Indy shirt. At the time, it is only type of Indy shirt MBA available for sell.

Based on my study on the Indy shirt for the past years, the following chart is the spec of the shirts from each movie.

Azuma,

Nice shirt comparison chart. It looks like you have collected enough info to make an SA shirt for each movie. What will the future bring us? I've bought almost everyone's shirt, and sold off a couple I didn't really like. If you make more, I 'll need to buy more!

Hi Jake,

Since there are pretty well-made Raiders and KOTCS shirts offered by COW members, I think I will just stick on LC shirts, however, I might work on TOD shirt, as it is not much difference than LC shirt. Perhaps a battle-damaged TOD shirt~

I will PM you on your questions as soon as I talked with the tailors.

So I recently traded my Azuma shirt size large with another member for a size medium, which fits me MUCH better! Now that the shirt fits me, I love the shirt even more! I have owned many different types of Indy shirts, and besides the Noel Howard shirt, the Azuma shirt is my favourite!!!

Hi BazzanoJones,

The sample buttons we have here is Pantone 450, however, these buttons are not yet confirmed to use on our shirt. We are trying to get the buttons that used on local MP's uniform. Still waiting on the news from the supplier.

This is the button in pantone 450 scanned from a scanner

Thanks a lot for the new infos! :D

Unfortunately it's pretty difficult to judge how much the color 450 is dark or bright, because it isn't placed over the shirt fabric. It seem too dark to my eyes, but it's probably due to the fact that it's on a white surface.

Oh, never mind! We'll see when you'll find the right "MP style" buttons! ;)

Fantastic job with the shirt comparisons, Azuma! And from my own observations, I too believe that Noel's original shirt was indeed a Raiders shirt.

I love the fit of Azuma's medium on me, best fitting Indy shirt I've owned.
I think the fabric is slightly thinner than Todd's. A great weight for an Indy shirt.
Not convince the buttons should be this dark... I see much closer to shirt colored buttons everytime I watch LC and wonder why people keep going for the darker buttons.
The shirt is slightly longer than the Todd's which is great... I'll try to get pics soon.

(hoping for everyone to yell at me something like "you don't know? It;s so and so's shirt!") I must have missed the consensus somewhere...
