Making a pretty badly tapered dorfman look like a decent hat. I'd like raiders, but i'll settle for LC.
I've seen some amazing things done in the way of raiders on here.

So, you're actually asking what would be the best way to reblock the crown, not stretch the hat, right?

Stretching has to do with resizing a hat by stretching the sweatband with a hat stretcher.

Fixing taper is reblocking. Another animal all together.

I meant stretching the crown to look taller, I saw somebody's hat on another forum who said he stretched.
But so far, my reblocking hasn't worked. I've managed to reblock a fed IV, cowboy hat, and a wool hat and they look great, no trace of the original shape. The Dorfman isn't doin anything except turning into a stunning likeness of the extremely tapered YIJ hat.
:x
My dorfman is also a newer edition, so maybe it has something to do with that

Wow! I've never seen that thread before... Those are good looking Dorfmans!

I guess the best way to do that is to make hat block (I think there's a tutorial here somewhere to make a hat block out of styrofoam or wood) and stretch the hat over it. As for how to actually reblock it, I've seen a couple of tutorials here as well. SEARCH is your friend......

Gonna go off-topic here:
I just visited the only shop I saw here that really sells hats and found that the Indiana Jones Dorfman had been sold already. Makes me wanna go out and search for the buyer just so I'd meet another Indy fan here in my little country. Hehehe.

to get more crown height from a hat, requires a hat stretching tool, Not a sweatband stretcher, but one that fits into the crown, and is a heated stretcher. The one with the bulbous crown on the stretcher is the best one. YOu stretch it out laterially, which will translate into more crown height once you pull it over the right block. Very hard to get more crown without a proper hat tool. But, you can of course, try. Fedora
