Newbie gets Jacket

Post by SteveR »

Hi everybody,
Time for me to stop lurking and start posting!

I recently got myself a Wested Raiders in Cowhide

Specs:
Chest 49” (the rest of the measurements were taken in the shop)
Cowhide
Brass D-Rings Brass zipper
Gussets
Extra 1” on the front (I’m 6’2” but 257lb....maybe I should have asked for an extra 4" )

Ordered 20th October; ready on 5th December

I chose cowhide because I wanted a ‘real’ jacket and figured a ‘real’ Indy jacket would have been Goat Cow or Horse. After seeing pictures of Redbeard’s jacket from the European summit I decided on cow.

I’ve got some pictures on my website, but the weather has been so awful I haven’t really had a chance to get any decent daylight pics. The flash just makes it look shiny and cheap and really doesn’t do the leather justice.
I was expecting the cowhide to be stiff and take a while to soften and shape itself to me. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how soft it is. After only a few days wear it was starting to wrinkle and fold and look pretty good.
Hopefully the weather will pick up soon and I can convince my wife to stop laughing at me long enough to take some more pics.

All the best

Steve

Ahh my Goat is in the works. =P~

And contrary to the popular old saying patience is NOT a virtue!! ](*,)

Granted I know my Wested's will get here when it's ready but that dosn't make the wait any less killer #-o

On the other hand I'm quite sure my fiancee will laugh at me just as much as your wife is laughing at you 8-[

Hi Steve

I also own a 'new cowhide', I have found it works well for 'real adventures' - very durable.

Regards,

Al
