No more lambtouch or nickel zipper

Post by brex »

I just recieved word that you can no longer order lambtouch or nickel zippers. Any one have any ideas on what other leathers would be good for a 3 season jacket?

That's tragic! Does that mean NEVER? I wouldn't want a brass/gold-toned zipper because it wouldn't match my silver jewelry. (I don't wear much gold jewelry.)

I wonder if this is the same kind of information given out as we 'experienced' a month or more ago about 'no more authentic goatskin'? Turned out it wasn't true. I agree. The nickel zip and the lambtouch cowhide was created for us fans, and to eliminate them makes no sense. Regards. Michaelson

The reason I have dropped that is because of supply and quality problems of the soft lambstouch hide.
Also the nickel zips are with brown tape are only to order minimum 200.
That is not to say that if they were specialy requested I could not source it, but at this stage I am trying to stick to things that I know I do not have a supply problem. So I am not running it as standard option.
Cheers

Well, it's feast or famine around here. We gain shirts and pants, but lose nickel zips and the lambtouch leather. Ah well. Thanks again for at least having them while you did, Peter. They were much enjoyed while we had them. Regards. Michaelson

Does anyone have any ideas as to what other leather would make a good 3 season jacket. Also from peter's message I assume you can still get the nickel zipper if you special request it.

In my personal opinion, goatskin would be my suggestion. Regards. Michaelson

Ok...pardon my ignorance :? ...but is Lambstouch the same thing as Lambskin (just a different name)...or is it a different leather made to feel soft like the lamb? Also, while I'm at it...what is the difference in Lambskin and Authentic Lambskin as listed on the Wested site?

Finally...I was planning to order a Raiders in Lambskin sometime just after the New Year (and the holidays). If my assumption is correct, that the Lambstouch and Lambskin are the same, I'll have to pick another leather.

Thanks guys (and gals).

Best,

Chris

Lambtouch was a very thin cowhide that draped just like lambskin, but was definitely tougher than lambskin. The two lambskins have to do with the color and source of the hide, as the authentic lambskin is sourced from Italy and is based on a sample RAiders jacket Peter found buried in stock. The standard lambskin is English lambskin, and darker in color. Regards. Michaelson

I like my goatskin jacket. I've worn mine comfortably with only a shirt
underneath from 35-78 or so degrees. Your comfort may vary
depending on how many Nazis are chasing you.

My god...!

Now I'm really pis... eww... unhappy!!!
I've just decided which leather and all the details, and now this...
OK, I'm still going with authentic lambskin, but with a BRASS zipper?!?!

Hmm... isn't there anything more like silver? :?

Well... Now I'm going home to re-think my life...

I agree with Michaelson.. and ordered an authentic goat personally.. and I'll need it through the winter as well. Mil spec thermal liner might be comin into play of course to help ward off the evil "nazi" winter here in Canada :D

And once again I point out where else in the world will you get answers posted like Peter has in here? I've never seen any other company with this much class and personal touch! Wested's reputation and obvious care for their customers made my choice on whom to order a new jacket from an easy one.. There's simply no contest
