Leather conditioning for Wested Goatskin?
Hello everyone,
I should be getting my Wested ROLA in soft goatskin any day now, and was wondering if anyone recommends using some conditioner or water repellent spray?
I always use conditioner on my cowhide leather jackets. I just did not know if their is a special type of conditioner for goatskin or if I just use the same stuff.

As Michaelson would say....Pecard leather cream.
Re: Leather conditioning for Wested Goatskin?
Sure, you can't lose with a layer of Pecard. But many other sites say don't do anything to a leather jacket for at least ten years...

True.....but in the case of goatskin or horsehide, a light coat of the 'creme' only helps loosen up the fibers in the skin to help it drape faster to your body shape.

Thanks for info guys. I just didn't want to use the wrong stuff.
Would it be a good idea to put some sort of weather proofing on it before I wear it?

Re: Leather conditioning for Wested Goatskin?
Not really. Goatskin is by nature weather resistant, so I wouldn't worry a bit about wearing it without any kind of product application.
That's why folks love goatskin so much. It's practically a 'care free' hide.

Yeah, the Pecards product really helped break in my goatskin jacket. I think I would wear the jacket around a bit first and start breaking it in naturally. Definitely get caught in the rain, let the jacket dry while wearing it, etc. After a month or so, then I would use some Pecards on it.

I wore mine in the shower to break it in. In hot water.......My mistake............After the jacket dried, it became stiff...........Will Pecards help restore the jacket???

Thanks Michaelson.................I will go to their website and place an order.
Re: Leather conditioning for Wested Goatskin?
Well I just recently gave the jacket a good soaking, it looks good but obviously is a bit stiff now. I have this type of leather lotion on hand will this be safe to use?

Re: Leather conditioning for Wested Goatskin?
Should be fine. It's the same as Pecards Motorcycle leather lotion, or Lexol.
