Wested customer service thank you

Post by enigmata_wood »

I'm not sure they are getting emails at the moment so just to be sure I'm posting here too:
The first cotton drill Raiders jacket I recieved was the right size theoretically [according to the 46 label] but didn't fit me. When I returned it with an explanation that I wanted a jacket with an actual chest measurments of 48 i.e. my 46 inches plus 2 inches for movement.
They listened and responded the best way possible: they ignored the labels and measured jackets until they found one that actual size and sent it by return post.
A perfect fit. Many thanks.

I'm glad you have one that fits. Are you saying despite being labelled a certain size they are all different sized?

I've often thought about the denim or cotton drill jackets, how do you like it?...... and I'd like to see photos too.

I've owned both, and am more of a fan of the drill than the denim, though both are great jackets.

The one I wtill own and use in warmer weather is my cotton drill, as it's much light in physical weight than the denim, though the only 'down' side is it has to be dry cleaned, where the denim can be machine washed.

Personally I think everyone should have at least one of these in their closets for those times a leather jacket is a bit too much. JMO, but they fill the bill perfectly.

Can you clarify the difference between the drill and demin jackets? I just went to Wested's site and all I saw was the denim.

Hummm. That's a good question. How to describe the difference..... :-k
Where's KT when you need him? :[

Cotton drill is a lighter weight ribbed cotton cloth, where denim is a heavier cotton material.

Not the best desciption, but at the moment it's the best I can come up with on short notice.

Anyone got a better run down?

Not positive but I think drill cloth is a tighter, finer weave than denim.
Is the Cotton Drill a special request one has to know about? I don't see it on the site either.

I didn't even know from the website there was a choice, I just orded 'cotton' off the peg. Drill has a softer feel and a smoother weave than denim. it's all in the weave.

I thought they had cotton and brown denim, not cotton drill and cotton denim.

I don't know, VP. Peter always called it cotton drill when we talked about it. They are two completely different materials.

I'm afraid I never really saw the cotton drill version, but I did get one of the first denim ones. I tend to wear it a lot when doing odd jobs outside the house when a leather jacket isn't appropriate (the denim is more breathable and you don't mind as much brushing it against trees and stuff) and the pockets do really come in useful. I also quite like the way it's made with the 'Rola' jacket specs.

Hm, thanks for the information, but still not entirely clear on what Wested is offering. :-k

So, enigmatic_wood, you didn't specify what material (drill vs. denim) and received a drill jacket?

I love the look of these jackets and if they are available in drill material that would be my preference. I may have to drop Peter a line and see...

I think they need to clear that up on the website. I ordered what was available:
http://www.wested.com/stone-washed-deni ... 2-71-p.asp
and now that I look again it does say 'denim' but I'm happy with the jacket and as far as I can tell 'drill' is just a tighter - smaller weave as 'denim'.

Jeff,

I think the denim replaced the cotton drill version. I've found it to be washable (I think it might say so on the label), the drill version IIRC said to dry clean only.

If you need me, I'll be behind the barn beating the stuffing out of bink. Wait for me... =;

Peter posted not long ago that he still HAD cotton drill if anyone wanted it. It's just not a cataloged/website shown option now.

Like I said, it's just a personal preference, and I've grown quite fond of that material over the denim. JMO.

First of all, some jokes are too fun to hide from, especially if it makes people mess up their computers.

Second, it's a good thing Michaelson beat the stuffing out of me. It had been there since Thanksgiving. :-0
