The WPG original Mark VII bags and Indy 4?

Post by lantzn »

Does anyone own one of these bags? What's the quality like. What the info on the inside flap, manufacturer, date, etc.? Do they have the little loop on the side? I'm looking for a duplicate to the Indy 4 bag. Does anyone of the Indy 4 bag specs?

WPG has original MKVIIs, but there are many different brands. It's basically a random pick. They all have the side loop, otherwise they wouldn't be MKVIIs.

IIRC, the Indy 4 bag was the original bag for many of the shots, and then they duplicated and aged it.

Yup. They used the archive bag for the hero shots and the other bags for stunts and whatnot.

I have this bag, and the pic they show is pretty true to what you get. Its original and has that faint musty smell. When I received it, I remember it had the VII on the inside flap but has faded to the point you can barely make it out. I had run it through the wash a few times to get the musty smell out and to fade it.

I have one similar to the picture above. I have two others that do not have that style of snap buttons. I prefer the button that has a rim around it with detail, compared to the flat basic snap.

IndyRiv wrote:I also have one of WPG's original Mark VII bags. I bought one from Jerry (the owner of WPG) and got one in a very olive green color (much like the bag in Indy 4). I was sooo impressed with it that I took a picture of it and sent what I wanted (as far as details go with color and side disc) down to him; I know own 4 of his original Mark VII bags. If you want original LC color, try and see if you can find the M&Co with the plain brass snaps. If you want the darker olive-green color, the best route would be the L&S.

I also agree with Redinight that the design of the snaps with the "freckle" indents looks much neater than the plain brass snaps.

Hope that helps.
