What the heck do these measurements mean!?

Post by Mulceber »

I'm in the process of ordering my first Wested (a lambtouch Raiders style, by the way) and I'm a bit turned around by some of the measurements. I know that when you measure the sleeve length, it goes from the shoulder down to the first knuckle on the thumb. But where are the points you measure from/to on the back measurement and the shoulder measurement? If this is unclear, I'm sorry, but I can't think of any other way to say it. :junior: -IJ

Ummmmm.......I'll try to help if I can.......... :?

With my Westeds, I measured the back from the point at the back of my neck near enough in line with my addams apple, and double checked by measuring a denim jacket which I liked the fit of from the collar seam to the bottom back of the jacket - or take it down to where you want the wested to end depending upon your preferences, usually just above your back trouser pockets.

For shoulders, I measured again from the denim jacket and double checked from the angle where my neck meets the slope of my shoulder to the far top of my shoulder, allowing an extra half inch for movement.

It's also good to provide your neck measurement I found.

Using a well-fitting existing jacket is probably the best way to go.

Hope this helps?
