Anybody have Magnoli's "Tweed Professor Coat"?
I think the title of this thread says it all. So does anybody?
Re: Anybody have Magnoli's "Tweed Professor Coat"?
I've kind of always wanted it, but the price is a MASSIVE turn off. I'd be curious to see if anyone has it as well. I'd love to see photos of it in use!
Re: Anybody have Magnoli's "Tweed Professor Coat"?
I think you can easily find something like this in a thrift store (or any men's clothing store for that matter). There's nothing unusual or unique about a tweed sport coat.

I now own the brown Magnoli model in pure wool. I'll provide some pics asap! The coat is absolutely great as always from Magnoli.

I couldn't afford Indy Magnoli's Tweed Coat this year, but I found two very inexpensive (in the $15.00 USD each range) used tweed coats on eBay. No doubt that Magnoli makes a fine tailored jacket to fit you, if that's in your budget.
Re: Anybody have Magnoli's "Tweed Professor Coat"?
I think Magnoli would do wayyyyy more business if he lowered his prices.

Re: Anybody have Magnoli's "Tweed Professor Coat"?
Well, I have to say, after shopping around for numerous items that Magnoli sells (thinking that the prices were too high), I have found that most of his stuff is not over priced. Sure, he'd sell more if the prices were lower. But a brand new, made to measure tweed jacket will cost about the same anywhere you go (for example). In the last year alone I have hunted for shoes, jackets, and even shirts. Most are close to, or at, Magnoli's prices. Including off-the-rack. That fact doesn't make it more affordable, but it's important to compare apple to apples, even if it is Macintosh to Granny Smith.
If you are lucky enough to fit into off the rack sizes, you may find good stuff for less, but not quite the same stuff. And the thrift store angle only works well if you are of a popular size of the era you are shopping for, and you have to live (and shop) in an area where such items pop up with some frequency. My own predicament: a size 50 living in the Poconos of Pennsylvania. If I'm lucky, I can find vintage 1970's stuff that will fit, and new stuff I have to risk ordering from catalogs because most regular stores forget that their are men bigger than a 46 Regular in this state.
So, it all depends on one's specific opportunities and what quality one is used to. Magnoli ain't cheap... but neither is a Nowak jacket or an Adventurebilt.

Re: Anybody have Magnoli's "Tweed Professor Coat"?
I've had tailor made clothing in a past life. Made to measure dress shirts can't hold a candle to off the rack sizing, and when you get a suit tailor made to fit you, if feels great. Everyone one has one arm and/or a leg just slightly longer than the other and when a piece of clothing is made to fit you, it becomes a treasure. It's kind of a shame that I've outgrown those tailor made suits from Hong Kong. There's still life left in those pants and jackets, so some lucky guy will get a deal at the Goodwill store soon. Magnoli's prices reflect the kind of service you get from a personal fitting and are in line with other custom tailors. I've yet to get any clothing or made to measure item from Indy Magnoli, but if I'm ever in the financial position to afford it, I'll be a happy customer.

I also have the tweed jacket, bought back in 06 I am pretty sure I was one of the first so the material may have changed. I think Magnoli prices are very reasonable considering the fact they are custom. Everything is top quality. Sometime I will psot my Magnoli collection. I have his adventure boots, ToD tux, Venice suit, adventure pants and shirts, professor tweed, blade runner shirt, X-O jacket, indian buckle and plan to order the ANSA boots and flight suit. Everything I have fits like a glove and is top notch.

Thats a great looking jacket on you. I have thought about purchasing this same jacket, but opted not to. I just don't think that I would get enough wear out of it :/ But I will say that Magnoli makes a superb product!
BTW, that's a nice looking fedora

No way!!! Maybe the hair. Actually, that profile... the lower part of his face seems very Ford-like. Scroll the thread so you can only see from below Pike's eye, but still see some of the frame.
I wish I had more use for a tweed jacket. I would order one, but I get hot so easily that I can't even justify off-the-rack prices for tweed. I'd end up wearing it once a year.

Thanks Chewbacca! All can I tell you is that this coat is very good for winter as well for early-spring time. It's just a little bit warmer than a normal suit jacket.
