My New Hat Came!
After waiting several months for this hat to become readily available again, I have finally received my Henry. My comments on the hat are exactly the same of those who have reviewed it so I am sorry to sound redundant. The feel of the felt is astoundingly smooth, as if it was made of velvet and the softness of the sweat is just simply amazing. The bash, done by John Penman, is exactly to my liking resembling the raven bar scene, which is my favorite look besides SOC. The hat is somewhat heavy weight and one can definitely get a sense of the durability of it just by holding it.

Looks great, but you are going to have to reduce the size of your pictures.

I agree. Just shows you what a pain in the backside Marc must have been.

Congratulations! The bash looks great! The bow looks great! Good looking hat!
Re: My New Hat Came!
Thank you to everyone, who posted, for the comments. This is the most SA hat I have ever owned and could not feel any more satisfied. By the way, my hair is cut very short at the moment and, as a result, there is a large gap between the side of my head and the hat. In order to keep it from sinking I have to insert two folded paper towel layers behind the sweat. The hat is already the smallest size possible, 56 cm; does anyone think that I will obtain a proper fit once my hair starts to grow out?

Re: My New Hat Came!
You may be a long oval. If that is the case, it won't feel right. You may have to stuff the sides.

I had the same thing happening because of my long oval head. Wear it: this hat will conform to your head and the gaps will disappear. just wear it a lotBdgsi11 wrote:Thank you to everyone, who posted, for the comments. same thing here, and I'm no long oval. but I agree: wear your hat and it will morph to fit your headBdgsi11 wrote:By the way, my hair is cut very short at the moment and, as a result, there is a large gap between the side of my head and the hat.
Re: My New Hat Came!
Thanks everyone for the advice, but I now need help with something else. My hat is already turned, so how do I give it a much more dramatic brim flare/swoop on the right hand side; it just seems a little too flat to me and I want it to show more character. Any help is very much appreciated.
Re: My New Hat Came!
Here are just a few more photos of my new Henry in natural light.

Yep, old Marc is very specific when it comes to hats. And good for us that he is!! He really spent some time with the folks at the factory getting a good flying v bow on the Henry. I bet they were happy when he left!!! Marc is a stitch counter. He could probably tell you off hand how many stiches he puts in his sweats!! Very precise partner and friend.
You guys that buy the Henry, ought to pay John to treat these hats with our water repellant treatment. That would be money well spent, as my own Henry has proved. No change in my Henry after several rains. Marc liked this stuff so much, that he paid 300 bucks for shipping just to get some!! He likes the repellant nature, but more than that, he likes how it gets rid of pounce mottle. The only treatment I have seen that does so. And I have tried alot of different ones. Miracle stuff there. Fedora
Re: My New Hat Came!
That is a really nice Henry! I agree if you wear it, the hat will start to conform to your head and gain more character with time.

Re: My New Hat Came!
This thread has been very helpful to me - thank you for the wondefull pictures. I think these hats photograph better in natural lighting and it really helps potential buyers (like me) make a more informed decision as to which, of the MANY, fedora options to go after.
I am on John's waiting list for a hand-made Raiders, but I still have time to decide on getting the Henry. Not really sure because they are both GREAT Indy hats - but one is hand-made and has some extra LOVE put into it. I guess the biggest selling point of the Henry is not only is it screen accurate (with the appropriate bashing done) but it is readily available for shipping.
Ahhh, the trouble with being impatient but ALSO being a stickler for accuracy/quality. BLAH! What do I do?!

Re: My New Hat Came!
If you already have a hat on order with John then stick with it. It will be WELL worth it!!! A well-made hand made hat beats a factory hat every time!
Re: My New Hat Came!
generalFROSTY:You can't go wrong with either, but I would say go ahead and get the Penman. I do not own one myself, but from what I have seen and read, it seems like a great quality hat that can easily become like an old dependable friend. In regards to the Henry though, I do recommend that, down the road, you should definitely pick one up, for it is also a great hat which one should not pass up when granted with the opportunity to own one. It has become an instant favorite of mine. But, the wait for a brand new custom Penman is definitely worth it and a purchase that you would not regret. I myself do plan on ordering a custom Penman rabbit to add to my collection.
