Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
Good evening,
This question goes out to the ones "in the know" concerning the currently postponed US Wings version of the "Temple of Doom" jacket. The last information provided was by COW member "Crismans", who with COW member "Indiana Holt", initiated this project.
Back in April of this year it was posted by "Crismans" that because, if I read the post correctly, that due to not meeting the minimum of 100 jackets ordered required, the production efforts, and the status of the economy, that the jacket project has been put on the backburner.
I was just inquiring if there was any updated status concerning that project.
Though I already have a Wested "TOD" jacket, wouldn't have minded a US Wings version of the jacket. As for a Tony Nowak version of the "TOD" jacket, as seen through COW member "Han Jones", the price for the jacket is not feasible for me right now. Though a Magnoli "TOD" jacket maybe something to consider.

Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
I discussed the possibility of going back to Sgt. Hack and seeing if we could "start up" the process again with a couple of members here who know the Sgt. Their thoughts (which mirrored my own) was that Wings probably wouldn't go into the project right now. With the economy still slumping, Wings (like a lot of manufacturers) have seemed to cut back somewhat and I didn't think they would take the risk on a project that didn't take off the first time.
I didn't approach Hack with this as I don't want to "spoil" anything by broaching the subject too much. I thought it best to lie low for a while until the economy improves and business picks up again. Wings has the prototype and would make the jacket if the orders are there. I was just waiting for a more favorable climate to try again.
Believe me, the prototype was a terrific jacket and I'd love to have one of these myself. I think if the proto had been made in their antique lamb instead of the distressed cow, a lot more people would have been itching to get one. That's just my opinion, of course.

Thank you for the update concerning the status of the jacket. I completely understand the situation. Hopefully, once all the conditions are right, that this jacket will become a production reality.

Han Jones TN ToD is a very nice jacket, it is however mostly to is own specification.ProfessorHenryWJonesJr wrote:...........

TN does make an accurate ToD jacket, the only ones that have been shown here are my own and that of member 'orb'
If you haven't looked up those posts you may wish to.
If you do decide to get a Magnoli ToD please post photos of it for us!

Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
Good evening COW member "RCSignals"
Per your suggestion, I searched for the posts containing yours and COW member "Orb" Tony Nowak "Temple of Doom" jackets which I remember seeing when first posted. Those jackets look beautiful but, again, unfortunately Mr. Nowak's jacket prices are currently out of my range.
As for a Magnoli "Temple of Doom" jacket, it is something I am still pondering. But, if I do happen to purchase the jacket, I will be more than happy to share pictures of it with my fellow COW members.

Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
Prof - If you already have a Wested version of the TOD (I'm guessing the latest most accurate based on the Howard jacket) then why would you want to waste a good chunk of money on a Magnoli version that has not been spec'd off any certain pedigree jacket? While Mag's is I'm sure a nice jacket on it's own I don't see it as a perfect ToD version...(by all means if their is a bang on example of a Magnoli ToD then please post a pic) If you think the Nowak is an excellent ToD, might as well sell the Wested, take that chunk you would have spent on a Magnoli or US Wings, and there are your funds for a Nowak.
Just trying to understand your ultimate goal on what jacket you truely covet. Doesn't seem like you're in a rush if the Wested is filling your void for now.

I thought it was agreed that they were making it in antique lamb. Everyone knows the distressed cow is too light, and too thick. Darn, I'll go off somewhere and kick some rocks on the ground. lol.crismans wrote: I think if the proto had been made in their antique lamb instead of the distressed cow, a lot more people would have been itching to get one. Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
They aren't making it at all right now.
What I meant was that, if the prototype had been made in the antique lamb (which was going to be the hide used for the production run) then I think a lot more interest would have been generated and we might have reached the minimum order mark to make the jacket a reality. The vintage cowhide is a nice hide but it isn't the right hide for a Temple jacket imo. People had to imagine the jacket in the lamb because of the choice of the cowhide for the prototype. It's hard to let go of $300 for something you have to take a guess on what the final product is going to be.
Of course, they're were other factors and I might be off on this even being a major factor at all. To be honest, I thought we had a clear winner and I'm still puzzled as to why it didn't work out. I think it might have been a perfect storm of reasons that derailed the project.

Professor, have you decided to order a Temple of Doom jacket from one of the vendors?

Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
Good evening COW Member "RCSignals",
To answer your question, no decision has been made concerning ordering a "Temple of Doom" jacket from another vendor. I am actually in no hurry to purchase one right now. I would have liked to have seen the U.S. Wings version actually produced but, it appears that it may not happen. But we'll see.
Again, if I do happen to purchase a Magnoli or Nowak version of the "Temple of Doom" jacket, I will be sure to share it with my fellow COW members.

Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
If the project were for US Wings to offer a "Raiders" jacket instead of "Temple of Doom", would there be more members interested?
Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
they did offer a raiders jacket. they had a ''stunt'' jacket in hand and they copied it. it was called the ''Blue label'' jacket
Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
It's not Temple jacket related but I think there might be something exciting on the Wings horizon (I think it's really exciting anyway ). I don't want to say anything yet but will spill the beans as soon as I can (or wait for the Sgt. to spill).
Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
Now I'm not going to be able to sleep
Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
Don't go losing any sleep over it. I'm pretty excited about it but it's not like I've procured the Raven Bar jacket or anything.

Must be a Bell Hop jacket
Re: Question about the US Wings "Temple of Doom" jacket status
Sorry but the buttons on that one start 1 inch too high on the front.
