Yep, netbooks are hot nowadays. ASUS was the first to invent such a machine and other vendors have jumped on the market to get their slice of the cake.

Thread Revival! I love the idea of a MkVII style bag that would fit a normal size laptop, in my case a 15" macbook. Given the lack of options out there, I came up with my own idea for an Indy-style, "as close to SA as I could get", laptop bag. I bought a "vintage paratrooper shoulder bag" at a gift shop near work for $20. Made by Rothco and pretty easy to find at any surplus shop or on online. I replaced the fabric shoulder strap with a Raiders strap from Magnoli. Done. Love the bag. I use it regularly and have travelled on business with it. Plenty of room for my mac, charger, ipod, book, magazine, etc. The one inch leather strap is a tad thin when carrying the weight of the computer, so I use the shoulder "pad" from the original strap - works great. One note: I reinforced the attachment points for the D-rings, just to be safe. Let me know what you think.

Great find! Looks like a MKVII on steroids. The shoulder pad on the strap even looks great. Well done.

This thread's like a bad penny. Awesome job on that! Is there a model name or something? I searched Rothco and got lots of bags...none of them like this one though.

I googled "vintage paratrooper shoulder bag" and got a bunch of hits. I saw mostly khaki or black and not the green, but I'm not really in the market for one of these right now so I didn't search extensively.

Pulling the trigger on that bag... wait for it...wait for it...NOW!!! Now to save up enough dough to get Wade to make me one of his delux Raider's straps. Thanks dragonlady!

No worries, you can't go wrong for the price. Just a heads up: the canvas is kind of soft, so there isn't much structure to the bag. That's one of the reasons I like it, but I suppose you could stiffen it up with the laptop sleeve (which is a must w/ the computer in it), a magazine, some starch, etc.

I made my own scaled up indy bag with slim pockets hidden in all the sides. I supose you could do the same and fit high density foam panels into thes pockets?
