Wested TOD jacket

Post by sithspawn »

Was Westeds TOD jacket a limited edition or are they still available? I looked on their site and it is no longer there. Was interested in getting one. ;)

Thanks Guys. :TOH:

I wear the same size as HF, so does anyone know what the back, and sleeve length were on the original jacket? I want to get this right. Or should I just ask for the original measurements when I order? :-k

the best thing to do would be to take your exact measurements. You probably wear more or less the same size as Ford, but since you are getting a custom sized jacket, well I'd suggest you order it with your measurements, not Ford's ;)

The original was quite long, from memory it was a 42 chest with 26 body and 26 sleeves, or thereabouts.

My Wested ToD was made to original specs and the back length is under 26"

Looks like original hardware is no longer available.

Does that mean they are using replica hardware that looks exactly the same? Also what leather should I pick that is close to the original. :-k

I would go for auth br lamb if you want it original. to get more of the screen color I would go for dark br lambskin. or if you want durability then go for the soft goat. which has a nice color to it. slihtly darker then auth. lambskin but its about 50 times stronger then any lambskin out from wested. probably stronger then any skin out of wested.

good luck my friend. be sure to post photos :D

Also, though this might be a lost cause and it's just my opinion, but beg, plead, command, harangue, whatever it takes to try to get Peter to change the lining. I don't feel that the SA lining would be that durable in the long run at all, and there were some problems with it "billowing" out past the jacket even when relatively new.

I say it might be a lost cause because, last I knew, changing the lining wasn't an option. I think it would be great to have that as a choice, however.

I'm pretty sure he is open to using an alternate fabric for the lining now. Give him a call to discuss. (Turns out the nylon is a PiTA to work with) :).

That pita wouldn't last very much too, at least in front of me (about half a minute, I should say) :P

You'll have to ask. There were quite limited numbers of 'original' type snaps and zippers (actual numbers of them were posted here at the time). The web site no longer mentions them, and someone else posted here a while ago they were no longer available. If that is the case i would think something similar is being used, but of current manufacture.

Just placed my order today. According to Peter they still have some SA hardware left. Now the WAITING begins. :anxious:
