Young Indy Bash

Post by Tennessee Smith »

Hello All, I just ordered a Fed IV and am leaning towards the Young Indy bash. Does anyone have any good screen shots of it? I'm not entirely sure that it's the bash I'll go with but I'll post pics when it shows up at my door.

This one here is one of my favourite Young Indy bashes:

PM me if you need some screen shots of certain episodes, I´ve got tons here ;)

Although the Fed IV will not have enough brim width for this look and the ribbon is too narrow, but I guess you already know that and are only after this bash. I can imagine that a Fed IV with this bash will morph wonderfully into a great LC hat!
Please post pictures of the hat when you get it!

Thanks Bruce, does anyone have any side shots? All I'm getting from google images are the same 3 shots of Flannery. Also, does anyone know the history of the hat used for Chronicles? Was it a Herbert Johnson Poet?

Thanks Tremelo, I'll definately post pics. I know it won't look exactly the same but I'm still gonna try to get it as close as possible... I'm sure that after I do it I'll rebash it 5 times until I settle on a Cairo!!! Either way, I can't wait to get my hands on another virgin hat, unbashed by hands!!!!

Lately it seems there's a renewed interest in Young Indy.

I like the hat/bash in Tremolo's post.

The one in this photo looks like almost a LC to me

As far as I know the YIJ fedora was a stock poet without the Indy modifications done to to it. Richard Swales once told someone here it was a Taupe color, although to my eyes it certainly looks darker in the series. So Sable (or Cork in Christy´s case) would still be my choice of colour.
Chances are that by the time the series was filmed Herbert Johnson still used the same factory for the Poets they used for LC.

It´s one of my favourite Indy hats.

In this episode (London 1916) you get the best view of the hat without any very visible distressing and taper. Almost like new :TOH:

At that time, unless you specified to HJ that you wanted the movie specs, you got the Young Indy hat. At least, that's what happened to me. It seemed to be a Poet with the original 2 inch ribbon (and did not feature the double bow the movie hats had). The brim was quite floppy. Out of the box, it was only creased on the top and back, not in front.
