Crystal Skull AB

Post by knibs7 »

I have an AB from about 3 years ago and was wondering if Steve has changed the model or dimensions of the hats since then. IMO the CS hat looks like it has a shorter brim circumference then my older AB. Does anyone know what the Hero CS hat dimensions are? And yes I did a search.

The CS fedora is a hat that I had never made prior to the film. It was made on a vintage block, a fedora block as noted on the bottom of the block. There are actually two different hats in the new film, both from the same block, but with different specs. The story of that is here on COW.

The hat that you see the most of in Indy 4 has a 2 3/4 by 2 1/2 brim, with a 5 1/2 inch open crown size. It was creased in TLC style. The block I used is almost a 360 block shape, but with front and back taper. A very full block. Bernie pushed the front creases back to around 5 inches in length of add some taper, although not much. But as with all the film hats, the crease job does vary in the film, and you get a few different looks if you are astute and know this particular blockshape.

The CS block is not a common blockshape today. But it was, at one time. In fact, it is rare today, as you don't see it in any other brand of hats that I know of. I did not have a complete set of these blocks, and after much search, I could not find the other sizes that I needed and had to have it replicated. Thankfully, the replication was dead on, which it should be I guess, being done by an old block making replicator. Fedora

Thanks Steve,
Is there any way I could get mine (possibly trim the brim) to look more like the CS hat? Here is what it looks like

This is what it looked like when I got it. Standard Raiders bash

And then I tried re-shaping it into more of a LC

As I said, now I want to have more of a CS looking hat. Any suggestions?

I was going to say the same thing, but other opinionated people beat me to it. ;) I think it looks great as is.
