AB reblock time?
Sorry if there is also another post of this sort, but I was wondering what the turnaround time was for an AB reblock?
I am taking mine to a major hike this summer and it may need a reblocking, I'm wondering if my hat will get lumped into the current "pile" and I won't see it again for a year?
Also, what is Fedora charging these days for a reblock?

AB reblocks have a fast turnaround time, generally speaking. I have one here that has been here for a few months, but that generally isn't the rule. I think it is Agent'5s. I emailed him on what size it was to be, etc, as it came from someone else, if I understand it correctly. I never heard back but figured he would get up with me when he was ready to give me the specs.
I try to get the hat back to the customer within two weeks, just depending on when the block comes free, or blocks. I am having more made in certain sizes as 3 in each common size is still not enough to keep the flow smooth. Many times I have to wait until a block in a size comes free in order to do the next hat. And so many folks wear a 7 3/8!! My list now, has 10 in this size in a row, which makes me have to skip ahead in time to grab an order that is not a common size. Hopefully the addition of more blocks in these popular sizes will speed thing up. Fedora

Ok, as for both price (might have changed though) and reblocking of other brands Steve has said...
JohnnyFedora wrote:"As most know, I only do AB reblocks these days. Not enough time for the other brands. The price is still 35 bucks. Not much compared to some, but once you buy an AB, the reblocks bascially just cover the parts replaced, like ribbon, sweatband and liner. The labor is free for my customers.

Re: AB reblock time?
I'm using this topic to keep all the infos gathered in one place (yes mods, I'm a Search Function user and you should love me )
I wonder if somebody has ever sent Marc a hat for a reblock. I sent him my Henry in early July. I'm not complaining since he offered me a VERY generous discount (because the hat tapered, shrunk and deformed only after 2 months of usage) and I know he is very busy; plus, there has been summer in between. I'm just asking, that's all. Marc already assured me, on sept. the 13rd, that he has got only 3 hats to finish before he can take care of mine, so it's all right. But in the wait, I'd like to share some thoughts about the matter
So, how has your experience been, about hat reblocks?

Re: AB reblock time?
thanks for that, but I wasn't able to find any reference to waiting times it's what I'm interested in, more than in comments about the quality of reblock - of course I gave it for granted that Marc would have done a perfect job.VP wrote:http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17246Restless Dreamer wrote:I wonder if somebody has ever sent Marc a hat for a reblock.
thanks anyway, VP
so, anybody else?
Re: AB reblock time?
From what I understand wait times on reblocks can vary depending on what he's got on his plate at that moment: he still has a daytime job, renovations to his house and a wagonload of hats to make.
Sometimes it is quick, sometimes it takes a few months. The only thing to do is be patient really and wait for him to do his thing. I myself was lucky and it took only one month.
Regards, Geert

Re: AB reblock time?
I sent my Adventurebilt back to Steve for a reblock over a year ago and havent heard from him since. Also no reply to my follow up email. I guess after hearing that he tries to do a short turnaround that my hat must have gotten lost in the pile somewhere. I didn't want to bug him because since the movie came out I figured that he was swamped. At this point I think that a phone call is be in order...

Absolutely! That's just oversight on his part, and NOT normal!

Re: AB reblock time?
I just got an e-mail from Steve regarding a reblock and he said the cost is now $50... last I checked it was $35 so let this be an update.
