US Wings Model/Style Question

Post by jnicktem »

I have this really nice US Wings Indy jacket, the only problem is I don't know which style it is (I got it off of ebay). I think it is vintage cowhide... and the tag on it says this "DWCNO.30-1415"

Can anybody tell what model jacket my US Wings Indy jacket is? I couldn't find anything using the search or on the US Wings website.

I think that number is in all of their jackets. If it has that "vintage" look to it, it's either the vintage cowhide or a broken-in antique lambskin. If it heavy and thick, you have cowhide.

I know they used to sell 2 vintage cowhide models (regular and collector's edition). Mine is the collectors, but I have never seen the regular in person, so I couldn't say how they differ.

Thanks Chewie!

It's definitely vintage cowhide, but I don't know which model it is, like you say.

How does one know if it's a collectors series or a regular?

jnicktem,

I just check my jacket with the number you listed and you are a proud owner of the Collectors Edition
Signature Series™ Indy-styleVintage Adventurer Jacket. As you know the jacket sells for $499.00! unless you know about the COW discount then you get $100.00 off. So congratulations and I hope this helps! Here is a picture of mine.

Uh, Zane. That number is on my Goatskin, too. I don't think it has anything to do with jacket model. [-( To the best of my knowledge, there are no tags that indicate the collector's edition jacket. So, if you don't know as a result of directly ordering it from Wings, there may be know way of knowing for sure. Of course, as far as I can tell, the only difference is the price, anyway.

Everyone's help is appreciated!

Zane, you have a very nice jacket! It looks just like mine! haha.

I'm kind of shocked that there really isn't a way to tell the difference between the two models, besides the price.

Did you ever think of dropping Sgt. Hack a line and asking him directly? ;)

I sent them an e-mail awhile ago and got no response thus far. I figured at least here I can get an answer or two in a timely fashion. Usually I try to do as much research as I can before asking a question on here but nothing on this topic turned up for me.

Interesting. I had a look at mine (haven't opened my pockets since I got it!), and the tag is in the left pocket, and says "IJVINC". Vintage Cowhide? Vintage Collectors? :-k

So, even on two known collectors editions, the labels are not consistent. It looks like the Sgt. may be the only one with an answer, if there is one.

And if those codes get into the wrong hands, it could mean global destruction!

It doesn't just say it on the Indy Jackets. My US Wings A2 tag looks exactly the same.

as I said

DWCNO.30-1415 is the drawing number for WW2 A-2 jackets. The label USWings uses isn't specific/unique to the Iny jacket. no big deal IMO

On the inside of the left pocket of my CE is IJVIN.. it also says L 002

The codes on the website show the current Collectors Edition being a IJVINC. This is probably the updated CE that has the snaps on the storm collar. My CE is from last year, no snaps. I'd be interested to know the code on the LE jacket
