Hey Raider S,
That vintage goat just looks perfect. How's the drape? Is it "vintage goat" as in old stock that Tony doesn't have any more of?
Just perfect stuff.

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
nephilo,....Man two great looking and fitting jackets.......they deserve their own thread.......what type of leather did you ask for on each of them to refresh my memory ?
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
That's excellent distressing on the CS as well.....very natural looking ,makes me want to darken and 'work on' mine a little (the original leather) ......Tony just keeps on improving these, a real master........more pics of the two together please..the combo pic really shows them better......

Is the CS longer and roomier? Or is that just a optical illusion? In other words, compare the fit of these two jackets.

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Tony got the same measurements for both. But he said every jacket could be a little bit different. It´s handmade...
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
I just had my first opportunity for practical use of my Nowak CS first posted in this thread:
http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=42609
And here's where it got it's first use as a cool weather jacket:
http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=42953
It's still far to hot in Texas for any real wear, but this little tour has made all the difference in the world. It did a bang up job in the bit of rain it saw and kept the wind off ( it was chilly enough to support snow in the shadows along the mountain road ). Most of all though, after one wear of about six hours and the bit of rain ( and being stuffed in my bag ), this thing has REALLY softened up and broken in. The texture was almost immediately enhanced, and the new lines that have a tendancy to run from shoulder to cuff have all but disappeared, making it seem as though I've been wearing it for months solid. It's softened up a great deal to the touch but still has the rugged look about it. I know that the "new" look is a major sticking factor to a lot of people where this jacket is concerned, but it is becoming apparent that that is the product of film illusion. It's breaking in great after minimal use, and in person is already gaining a lived in appearance. I just want to say it one more time: after SIX hours! I look forward to more posts about this jacket down the road!

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
that is without a doubt the BEST looking CS jacket I have seen.
It looks just like the darker version we see on Ford.

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Love those rich brown undertones that come through in the 'distressed' areas of both jackets.......has any one come up with definitive answer on what the prop people used to 'darken' the CS film jacket ??
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Is the darker cowhide the "standard" hide that Tony is using for all his CS jackets now or is that by special request only?
It irks me a little bit that I bought my CS last year and it doesn't look anywhere as nice or SA as his recent CS offerings.

My 'original' has definitely gotten darker with wear, rain showers, contact with skin oils, and other leather surfaces like car seats, leather chairs ...........wear is your friend .....the more the better.....

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
I'm pretty impressed with that LC jacket of yours! At first, I thought the distressing was the same as the CS distressing, but then, comparing it to this:
http://www.theraider.net/films/crusade/ ... ts/243.jpg
It looks remarkably spot on to the LC jacket!
You mentioned you went with a darker leather for the CS jacket though that was not accurate... was this the darker CS leather option? I had a jacket made with that leather, and it looks identical to your jacket actually! The LC jacket leather, on the other hand, reminds me of what I thought was the lighter CS leather, especially as I have another 'CS leather' jacket that looks the same as yours.
I do have a couple of questions though... Does your LC jacket have a 'fuzzy' texture to it? Something almost akin to suede, or maybe even peach fuzz? And is the zipper completely straight, or is it slightly wavey? I noticed that the first few jackets out of Tony's were perfectly straight, but after his Indy I jacket came out, the zippers on even the Indy IV jackets had some 'curve' to them, irregardless of inner-facings. Which reminds me, does your LC have any facings? Thanks!
Once again, amazing jackets!

Hey RC! Unfortunately, no, I don't have the ToD, as personally I just didn't care too much for the movie, and not to forget that the jacket was barely featured in the movie! I did, however, get a Wested ToD for a friend though!

Nephilo when I saw that your name was the newest post, I seriously thought to myself, he ordered a Raiders jacket now! AND YOU DID! LMAO Seriously though, you'll have another excellent jacket on the way and I wish I had that many TN jackets. I think I'm going to have to call Tony this week to drop the bomb on a Raiders Shrunken Lamb, I gotta get one Can't wait to see the next addition, especially since the other two fit so perfect.

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
I've got my 747 on the way and I thought that would completely scratch the itch (except for a ToD) but I'm going to have to pick up one of the striated shrunken lambs too (nephilo we think way too much alike on this stuff! ). It's too close to the movie jacket for me not to get one.

Hey crismans...
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Some days it doesn't pay to go into work on time.
My wife just called me at 11am to tell me I got a package from Los Angeles. I'm intensely curious, because my phone call from Tony last night was rather interesting! He told me I'm getting the jacket tomorrow, and I had to ask where he sent it to, because my last jacket was sent to an old work address! But he did have my home address. He said he distressed it a little bit, just like I wanted, only...I didn't want it distressed (I asked for CS jacket to be distressed just a little bit)!! Not concerned if it does come with distressing since he's so #### good at it, but I'm half expecting a remake of my CS jacket

Daren, you are without a doubt one of the best HF look-alikes here at COW in my opinion. Everything from the face to the gear all screams Raiders!

Why not just wait until you get home and see it? Did you discuss this with Tony last night, about the distressing?Baldwyn wrote:Some days it doesn't pay to go into work on time.

If there is something wrong when you see it don't wash it this time, let Tony fix it.
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Naw, like I said, I'm not really concerned about the distressing. If it was undistressed, I'd be tempted to make a movie I've had scripted for 10 years that requires a virgin jacket...but then I'd have NOT wear the jacket until filming, and that would just kill me!!! I could probably script around it if I really wanted to do it. I was more amused and surprised that he was referencing info for my previous jacket and not this one (and hence half-expecting a remake). In the end, I'm just trying to contain excitement since I'm in for a long day at work.RCSignals wrote:Why not just wait until you get home and see it? Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Does anyone have a picture of an undistressed CS-hide jacket? I'm planning on ordering an LC jacket from Tony, and was considering getting it undistressed, but was hoping I could see a comparison before I made a final decision.
Though what I'll most likely do is that I'll get it undistressed anyway, and send it back to get distressed if I change my mind! But still, I'd love to marvel at some jackets while I wait!

Figured I would post some pics of my Nowak shrunken lamb that I bought off a fellow COWer. The legends are true -- the jacket is just AMAZING and the fit is great. I spoke to Tony to tell him that I love it so much that I will be ordering one in the near future.
Thanks,

Yes, Michael, it is a Raiders. And that is #13, Tibor. I love her!
I will try for some other pics. (That always takes me awhile. ) It is the shrunken lamb though and not very striated.
Thanks again guys,

Well, keep in mind though that the leather darkened up a little after being further distressed by the studio... And most likely the distressing methods used by them would not be something anyone would do to a jacket that they expect to wear for a while, which means none of us would end up with a completely screen-accurate color unless we're willing to sacrifice the jacket's longevity!

Also keep in mind that of the 30 or so jackets, even though from the same hide, all had differing shades. No two were or will be the same.
They will also look different in person than on film.

This will oddly be the first thing I've ever written here... but seeing as you asked, the Raiders is the 747 cowhide. I absolutely love it. It actually looks quite a bit darker in the picture than it does in person, and it's hard to tell with a hoodie and big scarf underneath (#### you Toronto winters), but it fits beautifully. It's the third Raiders jacket I've had and the first one I've been really happy with.
Cheers,

A couple of Canadian guys in leather jackets & scarves standing in a pub in the winter with (what looks like) jeans that have gotten a bit soggy south of the knees...
You don't get more CANADIAN than THAT!
