Well,
The replacement Aldens I received from Schmidty seem to be faring better than the previous pair - but one thing these new Aldens have in common with the other current generation pair I also had - SQUEAKY.
They sound like creaky doors in old haunted houses! I've tried to Pecard the tongues and loosen the laces a bit to give them some room to breathe, but nothing seems to help. Looks like my 2001 era pair still reign supreme.
Good thing I don't have to sneak up on anyone in the office today. They're so loud it's actually kinda silly.

You probably know this already, but those squeaks do get exorcised with time. My pair from early last year squeaked like mad when new, but half a year later, they became silent, and those I don't forsee those hinges needing any oiling any time soon!

So, it's just a matter of giving them a good breaking in? Cool.

Even my AB Aldens do that sometimes, but with wear it will eventually get better, I guess they are squeaky clean right now French. Some Pecards might help, but in the long run wearing them will get rid of the squeaks.
