Any thoughts on these close-enough pants?

Post by TonyRush »

After getting some WPG pants that I won't be able to wear to my costume event, I'm
looking for a pair of pants that I can get quickly.

What do you guys think of these from LL Bean?

Those actually look really good for a pair of close enoughs. These should work just fine with the rest of your gear.

Sorry- I viewed the shots of the model wearing them and have since decided that they look a little too slim cut. You may want to search for a pair of pants that are a little more baggy.

If you're talking close enough, I think they'd work well. They are a bit slimmer, but I'd prefer that over baggy since I'd wear them in non gear situations, and I dislike anything overly baggy.

::EDIT::

Those chinos are nice, too.

My husband uses these in dark khaki:

This pair and the one Tundrarider posted have pleats in the front and flaps on the back pockets which are a little closer to SA, too.

The LL Bean trousers have long been a popular close enough Indy pant. My first Indy pants were a pair in taupe, and I still have and wear them. They are quality pants for the money. What's more, I see them frequently at thrift stores. I got my pair for $3.50, so it might be worth checking out your local thrift stores for a pair. ;)

Has anyone ever "reviewed" a pair and commented on their value as "close enoughs"? I
wonder ...

The color of these is good. Even the grey ones for some rola scenes.
I wondered if you could find similar but with double pleats in cavalry twill, should'nt be too hard to find.

The ones that Twilekjedi posted are probably LL Bean's closest "close enoughs." The wool ones only have the edge as far as material. The dress chinos have the flaps and the pleats, but are made of cotton twill. Then, there's the microfiber ones, which have a better color, called taupe, which are closer to the wool versions in the first post.

It's all a matter of what aspects are more important to you.
