If you were going to choose between two whips....

Both are presented as screen-accurate from Raiders but they obviously look a bit different.

What do you feel is the best representation?

The anniversary whip (the top pic) I think is the best representation of the Raiders whip that Joe makes. Thats the one I'd purchase if I was going to buy a new whip. Which ever one you choose, I'm sure you will be extremely happy.

I have the one on the bottom (standard 10 ft Indy), and I am completely pleased with it and its performance! Either choice is a "win". Other than SA, the only real notable difference is the thong is a bit smaller in diameter on the "Raiders" than the "standard" model. I know that Darren has a "Raiders" on the way and he should be able to shine some light on how well it performs.

As both are Strain's, I don't see how you could possibly go wrong with either.

But as I'm no stickler for screen accuracy, I'd go with the bottom one as well.

Visually,I prefer the second, more reddish whip.

With the first, Joe is trying to recreate the whip as it appears in the first film . . . hard to say how it will look after a year or two or ten of use, though. It should actually start to look like MORE like the film in time, but again everything is going to depend on the user, the climate, the amount of sunlight and leather dressing, etc.

The second is Joe's version of a standard "Indy" style whip. Like the first whip, it will age and darken over time, but I'm sure that he believes that this hide and color is best if you want something to replicate the kind of whips that were provided to the sets of TOD and LC as provided by David Morgan.

But what are the differences between them? I can see only that the top one is a bit narrower in thong and handle and has darker ringknot. That's all.
Hides are the same colour, the photos were made in different light (maybe it's different soap application). Rest look the same in those whips.
