I figured I would join in on the fun and post a couple of pics of my new Penman. I'm amazed at how soft the felt is. I'm working on getting the bash the set in. I'm seriously considering sending my Camptown Metro to John for a reblock and a new ribbon.

I am getting married in ten days. So, my fiance and I had an engagement photo session with our photographer and naturally, I took my Penman wedding hat. We are both very much into film noir and 30's fashion so we got dressed up in like fashion for the shoot. We took over 400 pictures but these are just a handful. I might add that only two of these are "finished." The other two are raw. Anyway, onto the pictures.

THANKS for letting me know, Oak!

Nope.
When John notified me he was almost ready to begin working on my Distressed Rabbit, I sent him my Grey Seaplane hat because I wanted him to switch the liners so that I'd get that sweet looking new "black" Penman Hats liner in my Grey and have the "white" liner in my Brown Rabbit...
Just a personal taste thing (with which John was kind enough to accommodate me)...
I also asked him to throw my Grey on that nifty block of his for a quick "spruce up"...
;)
(But for the record, j... my NEXT Penman will be one of John's gorgeous Brown Beaver fedoras Penman Hats has become so well-known for!)
:)

Ah, gotchya. I have to admit, the black liner in the grey seaplane really looks wonderful (I know, I have one!).

And I should be coming up on my next Penman,... the Last Crusade!

Your grey hat didn't need a re-block my friend but I re-blocked it on my new Raiders block anyway for you.

John's quite right and I probably should have chosen my phrasing to be more to that effect:
My Penman Grey Seaplane didn't actually need a re-blocking, but because I knew the hat would be in the same room with that awesome Raiders block of John's, I asked him if he'd give my hat a little "spa treatment" while it was there... and John was kind enough to indulge my request.
;)
Indebted to you as always, Oak.

What a beautiful hat, Daren... Congratulations!
Those are great photos and the hat looks wonderful on you.
:notworthy:
You know, before I startedpaying close attention to the work that Oak was doing, the LC hat was just never one of my priorities. For me, it was just "Nice hat, but I'm in no hurry..."
But with John's LC, now I can't help but want to put this style hat on my horizon.
EXCELLENT work as always, Mr. Penman.

As far as safe distance goes, one way to get right up close is go ahead and wrap the photographer around the waist. But otherwise, either zoom in and throw the crack straight at them, or don't zoom in and throw the cracks past the right or left shoulder. That's what we did. I think the crack in the photo was thrown straight past his right shoulder.

Glad you guys are the liking the pics! I'm having a great time taking 'em. And props to my roommate, Aaron Dahlstedt, who is my photographer. Lucky for me, he's taking a serious interest in the mechanics of the shots, and to help, he has an awesome hi-speed camera. He can do a burst and take about 7 shots a second, which is great for the whip shots!

But back to John Penman! Does he do great work, or what?!?

I'm waiting on him to make me a Raiders Seaplane Gray, and soon I'm gonna have him build me a Raiders Rabbit!

Go, John!

Hi guys. How are you?
Does anyone have any beaver Penman hat Crystal Skull (brown)?
I've seen pictures at John´s facebook and are a bit dark to get an idea.
I searched at the forum and don´t see any of this model. Two-four pics only, but distant, low size and resolution.
How about this hat? very good quality, accuracy of bash and finishes, right?
Thanks!!

DHW, as the proud owner of a Raiders Seaplane Gray (in Beaver) allow me just a moment to chime in here and say that this hat is a MUST have!
Smooth feel... gorgeous "sheen" to it... Excellent workmanship...
It's nothing but pure quality.
And let me state the obvious: It's gonna look GREAT on you, my friend.

Granite.

Hey, John. Is my Raiders Seaplane gray going to be granite like Matt's? Or do you have other gray options?

The Granite looks good to me, but I was just wondering.

Daren

Oh yeah, and is the brown on the Raiders the same as the brown on the CS hat? In that first photo, it looks a tad lighter.
