Andy Taylor wore Indy pants?
I've noticed over the last few weeks on the Andy Griffith show that Andy seems to be wearing pants that are very simmilar to Indy's trousers. Now from all the color shots I've seen of him, the color is off, but the back flap pockets are dead on. They have the perfect look that Indy's did and if you could get them in Toupe or Khaki, we might just have something.
Anyone here know where to find information about these pants? I've done searches for police uniforms everything turns up with just one flap pocket or a pocket that doesn't look right.
Just thought I'd share...

And actually, the sheriff's shirt has epaulets and a pleat on the pocket. I actually have been half-hearted looking for a decent set of GriffithGear for a possible future Halloween or something. I am a nut for The Andy Griffith Show, and have watched it religiously since I was young.
You're right, they are pretty close though. I may have to investigate to see what I can find...

Cliffhanger, you stole my line "NIP IT!" ... so I guess I'll just have to sing a song to ol' Juanita.
I too grew up when on a sick day you could watch the happenings of Mayberry 4 to 5 times a day depending on when you flipped the channels. Great show. I was actually surpised on a recent viewing of a documentary on the show that Frances Bavier never really cared for Andy Griffith and only made amends shortly before her death. Aunt Bee not liking Andy?! Sacrilege.
Now to get this back on topic...
I always thought that Andy's uniform was reminiscent of the one he wore in "No Time for Sergeants" which might make that officer's pinks connection a little more than a coincedence.

A FANTASTIC, hilarious movie. And also on topic, perhaps many police departments and sheriff departments of the day (50s, 60s) borrowed uniforms and the like from the military, as they do today.Mike wrote: I always thought that Andy's uniform was reminiscent of the one he wore in "No Time for Sergeants" which might make that officer's pinks connection a little more than a coincedence.

A coincedence, you say? Shazam!

It's me, it's me.......it's Ernest T!!!!
The infamous Ernest T Bass....Another of the great characters portrayed on that series.......I had always noticed that there was a slight difference in Andy and Barneys shirts. Though the trousers had the same scalloped back pocket flaps, they lacked pleats. With regards to the shirts, I noticed that Barney's shirt had a style of pocket flap closer to the Indy shirt. Andy's shirt seemed more squared off and flat. Just an observation but glad to see others often find those similarties from time to time. Regards, Williamson.
