my little baby....

Post by jeanfifi »

Hello everybody

here is my last effort!
it's an 8ft bullwhip two tone, double plaited belly (each is 4-strand) double bolster (kip), and a 16plait overlay ending 6-plait:
The pattern on the handle is inspired by Joe Strain's whips.
Bellies and overlay are kangaroo leather from Mike Murphy's
The transition handle-thong is 8-seem.10inch handle
Ring knot is pinapple 4x5. Butt Knot is pinapple 6x7

It's one of my firsts presentable bullwhips.
I've started making bullwhips about one year ago.
I want to thank all my Masters during those months: many thanks especially to Franco, and also Benjamin Scott,
and also to Louie Fox and Adam Winrich.
Those last months, I want to thank also Paul Nolan, who was kind enough to answer absolutely all my emails!

Since I find this forum I can't say how much it's a pleasure to read it. thanks everyone!!

I am also very gratefull to JB_Whip, wich is the first french whipcracker. Thanks to his blog and the french forum
"indianafouet", I've first met Franco, and, since that time......I 've joined the dark side!!!!

Thank you everybody!

You can watch my blog if you wish:
http://jeanfiwhip.future.fr/
I must say it's not a commercial one.
I've created it just to see my improvements, and to help me remember all the details it takes to make a whip.
Because once it's finished it's not always easy to remember what you put in it and above all, how....
You may call it sort of a "tool" just for myself.
In the same time I appreciate that everyone, and especially the Masters Whipmakers could have a look at it, from time to time.....
Unfortunatelly, it's written in French......and my english is not good enough to make it easily readable....
NOw, if you just watch the gallery, you can see my improvement for about one year. Indeed it's been one year I began whipmaking.
When I remember how I was afraid, just to cut my hides......
Whipmakers are really incredible artists, it's amazing!

I have called my blog "the french artistic world of whip" for one more reason:
here, in France, it's always the same song when you just say "whip" to someone:
People think always at SM or something like that at first.....They don't even know at all what's whipcraking!!
That's one main reason I wanted to be clear. Anyone is free to do whatever he wants with whips after all.
But the purpose of my blog is the art of whipmaking(and of whipcracking to another side: little one because I am also a beginner LOL)

I hope you will enjoy my blog, despite it's written in French! Thanks for watching, and for the compliments!

JP,

I read your blog by using http://translate.google.com/. I think it does an OK job of translating.

Hi Louie,

thanks for the link. I 've just made a trial with one page of your web site.......it's not so good (english to french)and takes some critisism while reading the translation (to understand the real meaning)LOLL. :rolling:
But I am happy if it helps in the opposite direction (french to english)!

The translation is not perfect, but usually I get the general idea (I hope). It's better than nothing.

LOL, I do the same thing still JP. I tied a heal knot on this past weekend and it was perfect the first time, even with an interweave, the transition knot took 3 tries to get right :)
