Which Fedora Do You Wear?

It's a given that most, if not all of us who frequent the fedora section love our hats. But, I was wondering what fedoras do we wear most? Our Indy's or other fedoras? I guess I'm asking, when going out the door, which hat are you most likely to grab?

I'll kick it off by saying it depends on my hair length. When my hair's a bit longer, I grab my Keppler, when it's shorter, I grab my Federation Deluxe [which isn't really an Indy hat, since I gave it my own bash]. Other times, I grab a beret, or GASP!! a camo cap.

I wear my AB Raiders Henry for sure from oak most the time. But I have to admit I have a DP that I wear camping or if I'm running a quick erron. I love my Henry though.

I wear my brown SoC Fed 4 Deluxe (the one in my avatar) almost all the time. Partly because I want it to naturally look worn. I can wear it with a smart suit or casual clothes. But when I'm wearing a smart grey or navy blue suit i wear my Moonstone Fed 4 Deluxe. They're so comfortable.

The Henry on fine day, I have a grey fed that gets worn with suits, a beat up Fed III when the forecast is rain. So depands on the day.

Penman Raiders for just hanging out. I wear my Penman CS Hero when i'm out and about. I like that it looks like an Indy hat if you want or not depending on what your wearing.

That's the beauty of a CS and LC fedora, they can be Indy yet not. Oh, and my Keppler was a CS, but I rebashed it to a more Raiders look.

I notice that I usually wear non-Indy hats, but I favor my AB's when it raining heavily.

Christy's is good for italian fall. For colder months, I go for my Henry - warmer, and better resisting to rain

A vintage straw or lightweight felt if it's summer, but otherwise, whichever hat suits my fancy and goes with whatever my mood or attire is. My current rotation features some vintage fedoras and one or two ABs.

I've got a pretty decent pile of hats that I rotate through regularly. I have, however, found myself grabbing for the AB CS a lot lately as my "go to" hat. I like to try to coordinate my hat if I'm dressing for a particuar occasion, but the AB went with me to Vegas and it's going to Colorado in a few days. It's an excellent all around hat that goes with just about everything, and it doesn't feel "costum-y" at all. PLUS, pretty much no matter what felt you wear, you're gonna get, "Hey Indy!", so when I'm wearing the Adventurebilt, I can always go, "Well, as a matter of fact..." The reaction almost always goes from smart a** to "Wow, that's pretty cool".

Currently a straw since the weather is way to hot for a felt hat. Once things cool down, my Penman Raider will be the everyday hat.

Is that because you associate berets with, 'Cheese-eating surrender-monkeys' to quote Groundskeeper Willie? Or because one would think the millitary would think better than to supply headgear that protects from neither rain, cold, sun ...or shrapnel?

I exclusively wear Indy hats now. I have four of them: 2 ABs, 1 Mag/AB/HJ and a AB Henry that was reblocked by Marc.

I don't really know why, but I tend to wear the Henry most. Maybe it's the comfy sweat these hats have

From what I've heard about the sweats Penman uses, I think that the grey one I have on order will feature heavily in my rotation once it gets here.

i bought todds (coyles) downtowner ealier this spring and i have been wearing that as much as i can , i on occasion still wear my dorfman . eventually i would like to get a penmans but as he has a long wait time ( no fault of his own , he is just a busy hatmaker ).

John's wait time isn't that long at all: Only 4-5 months at the moment. It might be long if you compare it to a factory hat, but that's apples and oranges really

Let me assure you: Nothing beats a custom hat that was made for you. Nothing. I'm not saying that your Downtowner isn't a fine hat, just that nothing will fit as good as a hat made to your exact measurements. Not to mention the possibility to have the hatter modify the specs of your hat to complement your features.

So don't let the wait time dissuade you, and if you have the money, go for it! You won't regret it

Mostly the later. I like stuff to have a function.

Indyclone, it'd also be smart to get in before the wait's Adventurebilt long! Or AB gets the Indy 5 contract and John goes to work on that, too!

Right now the only hat I actually wear is my Grey Raiders Seaplane from Penman, and I wear that for mostly dressy occasions. When I get my Adventurebilt Deluxe from Marc, that will become my everyday hat. And I will occasionally wear my Penman Last Crusade once I get that one.
