It's the shrunken lamb. One of the shrunken lamb skins available.
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Beautiful jacket RC.
Looks to be the same SL as Tony first offered.

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
RC, Tony told me he couldn't wait to get that jacket out of his shop because it was so ugly!
As it stands for me, Crismans has the premier LC copy and now RC has the premier Raider's copy - good work guys!

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
That jacket is just beautiful, RC. In fact, it makes me want one out of that hide! But I can't get another shrunken lamb Raiders. I just can't...

It's not the same as he first offered. This is striated. See the bubbly lines on the upper right chest panel and in few other areas?Tyderium wrote:Beautiful jacket RC.

The first shrunken lamb matched the jacket he copied. Whiskyman and Chris King's jackets were great matches to it.
The second shrunken lamb has less texture and was in response to a few people's request for less texture.
Interestingly since that came out Tony has had many requests for more texture, so he has sourced the 'original' again and this striated SL. Two different skin types.
All of the SL for the Raiders jacket was developed by Tony for colour match, texture etc, the first generation specifically to match the original jacket.

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Yep, I noticed the striations straight away.
Sorry, I should have been more specific.
I was referring to the overall texturing being a closer match to Tony's original shrunken lamb offering.
It's interesting to see the striations in relation to this. I was waiting to see a jacket requested in this way (with the striations) and yours certainly does this and looks great.

Awesome! Good to see Tony is even able to source DNA-appropriate Merino shrunken lamb hides.
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Awwww, dang! Now I feel the need for another TN Raiders But I just simply can't afford one right now without going back on promises. (well, that and I have a need for a TN CS and a Penman )
Great jacket RC! Love how the graining and striation is placed!

Great jacket! Looks really nice. Lets see some pics of it worn.
How long did it take from ordering the jacket to receiving it?

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
I can't get over how nice that looks, RC. Dead on to the movie jacket in so many ways. I might have to start saving toward one like it.
By the way, as a point of clarification, this is shrunken lamb and not adult sheepskin?

Just let me get one thing straight - I'm Australian. NEVER even INFER to an Australian that he may be a New Zealander! Ask any Aussie who would be "chasing sheep" and the answer would be "A kiwi!"Hatch wrote:Yohimbo , did you help him round them up down in New Zealand ?..........Yojimbo Jones wrote:Awesome! Yeah, yeah!
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Here's mine, which I got second-hand recently from ReturningSon:
It was a bit big on me so I did what I've done to two other jackets: washing machine on hot, dryer on hot (removed before completely dry).
Shrunk just enough, with some raised grain to boot.
Then I liberally applied Lexol. (No Pecards available locally)
I prefer a smoother feel than the dry-to-the-touch aspect of the predistressed cowhide, and this conditioning did much to improve that for me.
(apologies to those who would feel that ruins the SA aspect of the jacket. To me, the pedigree is unaffected.)
Nice jacket.
Now, has anyone ever successfully removed lining embroidery to no ill effects? That ain't my name in there.
Thanks, ReturningSon, for this opportunity at a TN original!

Lexol is good stuff. It's what we used before finding Pecards, and Lexol is still recommended by this writer.Treadwell wrote:Then I liberally applied Lexol. (No Pecards available locally)

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Treadwell, there was a post a while back in which someone showed they had removed the name embroidery. It can be done with a seam ripper if you are very careful and pick at the threads only. Don't hook the lining.Treadwell wrote:

Then after carefully 'massage the lining where the embroidery went through to close up stitch holes.
The other option is to contact Tony and see if he will make a new lining panel and what the cost would be.
a final option would be black duct tape...........joking

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
I'd try tailor, seamstress etc and get their opinion......not sure you'd want to try yourself....
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
I agree. Go with a tailor. I used a tailor/dry cleaner to remove only the name, but you could see that there were a few imperfections in the lining left. Not bad, but not the same as new. I think tailoring was more her hobby than her profession.
Go with somebody whose specialty is tailoring.

Looks great.
Does have alot more Indy vibe then the plain black version!
Is this also a very heavy leather? I don't know if you know the original Mutt leather.
It's my heaviest Nowak of 6.
Regards
Gerald

That's a very nice jacket. Did you choose the colour?
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
I have back problems, so with Tony we search to make the most lightly Mutt jacket possible.
We decided on this lambskin (I loved this color when I saw it), Tony calls it the Burgundy leather and the jacket weighs only 3.5 lbs (1,5 kg)

Very, very nice. Congratulations. Enjoy it as much as you can (and, as it is a TN jacket, that means enjoy it for the rest of your life!)

Cool jacket, Speed! You need to pose next to a motorcycle to complete the look.
BTW, why the blurred-out face?....Is the police after you?

Ah burgundy. So another leather on the endless Nowak leather list!
Seems like a great leather. I never thought this could be lamb.

SpeedRcrX, that is cool!!! I'm tired of black leather motorcycle jackets! The burgandy is really nice. I'd love one in russet, like the Rocketeer's jacket!
I wore my Indy jacket on the motorcycle yesterday, and it just isn't a motorcycle jacket. Rides up in the back, collar flaps around, had to switch to a normal bike jacket today. Wish I could trade in all my jackets for ones built by Tony!
Here's me in one of the stunt-man sized jackets at Tony's.

I don't know how this thread escaped my attention. I just received my TN CS jacket a few days ago. I started a thread in the jacket section, mine is the TN CS 005/777. Hi to you all.

I love the American flag tag on the inside! Did you ask for that, or is that an option?

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Thanks Travis. The flag is something I came up with for my Indy and inspired by the blood chits seen on WWII flyers jackets.Hollowpond wrote:I love the American flag tag on the inside! Did you ask for that, or is that an option?
Travis
The goat was my first jacket and my request was to have the embroidery and Nowak logo on the inside of the inside pockets and to have a flag where the logo usually sits. I wanted black thread on a black lining and repeated this with my new cowhide.
I may have been the first to put the stitching inside the pocket and people have since asked for similar and gotten the flag as well.
Remember, Tony is all about true custom and will do it just about anyway you want. And no extra charge for something like this.
