So that fedora is a new hat? Whatever distressing you did to it looks fantastic! It looks like a hat that has seen many adventures. You need to start selling these. I think you are missing your calling in the business world. You are a great compliment to the Indy community.
Does your distressing technique involve a swim in the pool possibly?

Hello beaverlid and Tundrarider!
You are right when you told " you have a business opportunity here ". You are right and It's sure that i start my little busness because i would like to sharing my hats and my passion with you the Fans. It's realy important for me.
Since two years, i work on this projet and nothing gonna stop me. The only problem is that it is long process but i wait my first little order ( not Montreal felt ). I think you'll be very surprised.
When I will sell the hats, I will put the DVD in the box for show you my bash methode. I have several good ideas.
To start, i would like to sell one or two hat by mouth and after maybe 4 after by mounth.
I'm sure I will be able.
I have a another reason if i start my little busness and I am sure that you understand and like my idea. I have another dream and that is to spend 2 weeks in Tunisia to see the Movies locations of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars. I want to go to Kairouan and i will take thousands of pictures with my hat and my gear.
Now i don't take the order but when i will have the news, i will make the ultimate hat presentation post with my logo.

Fedoraiders I love your hats and I love the idea of your going to Tunisia and taking lots of pics at the SOC locations!
I thought I didn't need another Indy hat, but if you start selling yours I can see myself changing my mind!
Awesome pics!

Re: Fedoraiders: A Another Street of Cairo Hat - Cairo with Gun
I will definately get my name on a list to buy a fedora from you.
Re: Fedoraiders: A Another Street of Cairo Hat - Cairo with Gun
I love it Jason.
I am in the progress of making another streets of cairo hat myself as I type this.
It will be a 100% beaver. it is EXTREMLY hard to wrk with the felt. its so stiff.
I decided to turn my raven bar hat into a SOC hat since I love that hat the most.

...And just as I told you in the very first pm I sent you, Jason... when (and if) you find yourself ready to sell... you've got another customer right here.
Ready whenever you are.
All the Best,
Mitch
(If it ever happens, I might just take "thousands of pictures" wearing my Gear with your hat - without ever setting foot in Tunisia!)

Oh, don't worry Holt... I've already learned THAT lesson!
Re: Fedoraiders: A Another Street of Cairo Hat - Cairo with Gun
I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe it. We all know your secret, Jason. You hopped in Indy Frenchs' DeLorean, ordered the Flux Capacitor from ThinkGeek.com, and went back in time. You then ran up to the set of Raiders, stole the hat right as Ford set it down, and then burned rubber back through space time and took some pics. The "I made it myself" bit was just a cover story. It's cool, man. I totally understand.
Seriously, though...FANTASTIC!!1!!one1!!!one!1!!!1 SHIFT+1

I hope you dont take my critque too hard. I just wanted to give you my most honest opinion..what are friends for right?

Re: Fedoraiders: A Another Street of Cairo Hat - Cairo with Gun
One question that comes to my mind whenever I see these SOC hats (all of the ones that have been posted here in the past month or so) is this: These hats have a lot of the same nuances as the film hat. Do these nuances just pop up EVERY TIME you put the hat on your head, or do you have to first put the hat on your head, look in the mirror and "milk" these nuances out? I know there has been a sudden renaissance of the SOC (sure people have always like the SOC, but here recently that theme has been more prevalent, thanks in part to fedoraraider's and holt's works), but I guess I just don't get it. To each his own, but the SOC hat is a wrecked hat. If those nuances pop out exactly like the film hat every time you put the hat on, that is AMAZING, but my guess is you have to first put the hat on and then adjust to see those nuances. If that is the case...I guess I don't see the point. It would be great for a static display or a bust though!

Travis,
I know what your talking about. I myself have never bash one of my own hats in any one scene. The reason I don't is because after I wear and handle the hat over time it changes. If I made 10 idol grab Raiders hat all the same size and head shape. Then I gave them to 10 different guys. After a year of wearing and handling they would all look different.
If I made myself a idol grab Raiders hat, after some time it will turn into a idol grab Raiders John hat. If I made a idol grab Raiders hat for you Travis, after some time it would turn into a idol grab Raiders Travis hat. Neither of these hats would look exactly the same or like what they first look like when started.
I really noticed this with squid kidd's Penman Raiders hat I made him. I bashed his hat like I did my own Penman Raiders hat. His hat started to pick up this look that all his hats look like no matter who made them. They don't all look the same but they all have this same thing happening. It's the way he sits his hats when he isn't wearing them.
I find this with soft and floppy felt more so than with stiff felt ( or felt that has a good amount of stiffener in them).

I really love the look from the front, but I'd like to see some shots from all sides.

I accept all comments on my hats, for me, it is the constructive comments and i appreciate. The size of this hat is 4 3/8" for the front pinch, 5" beside crown and 3 1/2" on the back
Thanks my friend!
You are right, it's very hard to work the beaver felt. I prefer to work on rabbit.

Thank you very much everyone for your encouragement and your good comments!
Strider It's very funny to read your post. You are right I'm going in the past on September 18, 1980 exactly and not on the November 5, 1955, lol. But i don't use the Delorean, i use i my pick up.
Thanks!
Jason

It's very clear to me and I think everyone here that there is a great deal of time put into making a hat like this one. Much, much more time than a normal hat. It's really hard for me to donate that kind of time for one hat. It would raise prices for something like this. Time = $$$$. It' s a sad truth. I wish I had the time you do to work on something like this. Your at a good spot right now. No pressure at all.

I guess the juggling act is staying in that good spot and finding a way to make it lucrative. IIf you aren't sure I would go to the experts that have delt with this headache and ask for pricing suggestions. It can't hurt and you may learn from their mistakes. Just a thought.

Pricing it is not that hard. You have to put $ amount to what a hour of labor is. Then total up the number of hour put in. It's that simple. The question will it be worth it to the customer.
Re: Fedoraiders: A Another Street of Cairo Hat - Cairo with Gun
Take it from someone who knows; if you find a great looking hat from a trusted source and the price is reasonable for what you are buying it is worth it just to get a fedora that you know is what it is advertised to be. I recently made a fedora purchase. I bought a higher priced fedora going by the creedo "you get what you pay for", and boy did that not turn out very well. To say the least I feel I was scammed. It was before I joined COW and learned a few things. The fedora I purchased is not exactly what I was led to believe it was. This concerns mostly the felt quality. I will not name the company. I will say they are not a member of COW. At least not that I am aware of. So my point is you should respect the work these guys put into their craft and be thankful that we have the oppurtunity to buy from trusted sources for the most part. Anyway with my recent less than satisfactory purchase from the unnamed company I have now purchased a 100% beaver Indy fedora from Penman Hat Company and have been placed on his waiting list. I patiently await the reception of my first 100% beaver felt fedora, for the second time.....
If that last statement doesn't make sense to you, be glad. That means you were not scammed by a dealer playing with words on their product.
