Close Enough Indy Guns
I'll start.
It's a S&W 22-4 Thunder Ranch, one of the first three or four that arrived in my area back in November 2005. The grips I found in a local antique mall for $10. They are of 1917 - 1929 vintage and made for the K-frame. They fit well enough, and with the grip adapter and my thumb resting on the back of the recoil shield, I can shoot it one handed without any pain.

That's a great looking piece . I like the look of the silver grip adapter.Dangerman009 wrote:I'll start.

Thanks. I think the overall look is good. Not too Indy, but definitely adventurous.

You made a good choice, Dangerman!
Here's my 4" S&W M22 ( I believe it's basically the same as the Thunder Ranch version, with the exception of the grips ).

You are correct, they are the same except for the grips.Solent MKIII wrote:You made a good choice, Dangerman!

Yes, The grips and the serial number prefix would be the only difference.Dragonlady Jones wrote:You are correct, they are the same except for the grips.

Re: Close Enough Indy Guns
Victory I picked up back in June:
It was refinished in nickel at some point, but still a beaut! I am still looking for Indy-style medallion grips, and have installed a lanyard ring since I took the photo.
Holster I made for ^:

Farmboy,
I know you said you wanted the medallion grips, but I thought I'd point these out anyway. The fifth set would be replacements for the original Victory grips.

The last set on this page are for the N frame, but with a little fitting it would fit the K frame.

I also have a set of round top N frame grips that I don't use. With a little fitting they'd fit too. They're from Vintage Gun Grips, made of black...plasticy material. They have the place for the medallions. The medallions are pretty easily obtained from grip makers, usually about $10. You could get those and insert them into the grips.
PM me if interested.

Re: Close Enough Indy Guns
Prior to my trip to Dragon*Con '09 over Labor Day weekend, I started to research cheaper alternatives to the Indy pistol, and found something pleasing to both the eye and the wallet. Available from many differing on-line retailers (most for right around $40), I ordered mine through Amazon.com last week (with free shipping, the whole cost stayed below $40!), and it happily arrived today.
It's a UHC Airguns UG 131, and (as you can see from the first pic I took next to the Cairo Smith and Wesson pic on Todd's Costume's webpage), it is cosmetically perfect, save the slightly larger grip and omission of the lanyard ring. It just fits my Todd's "Raiders" holster, but I imagine the leather will conform to the shape of the revolver eventually. Overall, I am pleased!

Re: Close Enough Indy Guns
That airsoft gun looks good! One question though, why does it show Colt-style revolvers on the box?

Re: Close Enough Indy Guns
Really don't know.... I think it's just a stock photo on the packaging. There are actual item numbers along the box edge showing all the models that "could" be packed within this particular box, and a sticker on the outside indicating exactly what's packed inside.Dangerman009 wrote:That airsoft gun looks good! This is where I ordered mine from. We will see if it was worth it

Re: Close Enough Indy Guns
darksideman13: I ordered that exact same Indy revolver a while back. It's an ok gun and would look better if it had a much more SA grip. Let me know if you have received it yet so I can post some pics for you.
