The grey-Henry prototypes have arrived!

Post by Stefan »

Dear all,
there are news about the grey Henry :D
We have received a pair of two different grey-tones and would like you to give us your opinion on which colour to choose for the grey Henry.
While taking out of the box, we were stunned that grey is not always grey and how they look different depending on unnatural light or daylight.
The felt in the middle of the picture is quite bright. The prototyp on the right side is darker and tending to look a bit in the direction of blue/green-colour with unnatural light.
On the left side, last but not least, a grey AB-Deluxe made out of the felt which we actually use for grey hats.
The same colour would be available for the grey Henry.
Which colour do you prefer?
The ribbon of the two prototypes is black of course, as it was voted for on the last poll.
thank you

I vote for the color of the AB Deluxe, the brighter one. I think that one captures the CS grey hat more so than the others. I think the Raiders grey hat was a bit darker, but it was never under natural lighting, so we will never know.

That hat on the far left is by far my favorite. A REALLY nice looking hat, if I may say so myself.

The AB Deluxe is the one that I like the best. The colour is nice, since its a grey with a slight brown tint to it. Looks good.

AB Dlx style, to my eyes, it looks closest to the CS Train hat, which is my personal favorite grey.

To me, the one on the right looks like Akubra's Carbon Grey and the middle looks like the Raiders hat.....

Well, the color on the AB looks ok, but in my opinion a bit too light. I like the silky look of it and it looks very noble.

Beeing a Raiders fan, I would prefer a darker color, as seen in most pictures. It is a tough decision between the middle and the right side, but I prefer the one on the right side, since it is a bit darker and for me, that is what the grey Raiders hat looked (also all these scenes were quite dark).

I like the middle as it looks more Raiders, even though the color reminds me of a blue pitbull. The AB deluxe, while a beautiful hat, the color reminds me of a Weimaraner. Maybe I'd like it more with the black ribbon. Can't think of which canine the prototype reminds me of, but they are all beauties

Man, I really love the ribbon on the far-left hat, guess it's too late to vote for that though. I also voted for the far left gray, it seems a little warmer and less "stogy charcoal" in color. lol.

Dang! This is a tough one. I like light grey hats but the lightest one looks a little purple and the middle one looks more blue IMHO. I think its between these two. I really like the blue grey middle one but think the light one will be closer to the CS train hat. I actually think IMHO that the middle one is closer to the clipper hat. The dark one would have probably looked very dark inside the plane.

I personally think you should have 2 - light for CS and dark for Raiders. But if i had to chose, i'd go for the light one.

Stefan, if you have some spare felt samples of the two greys send them to me, I can compare them with my 80's grey HJ and let you know which one is closer.
They both look like very nice colours... personally I would keep both in production but I understand if this is not economically possible.

Grey is the first added colour for the Henry. We cannot offer more colours now, but it's still a project for the future.

I know it's hard to decide if the grey Henry should be darker like Raiders or brighter like the CS.
To offer two grey tones won't be economically for the start.

Thanks for all your votes so far.

Thanks for the update. I figured that going into those other colors wouldn't be economical at this juncture, but was wondering anyway, as the thought of a Henry in green peaked my interest.

I voted for the middle one. The light color immediately says Clipper Raiders to me. It also would look darker in a dark room but still be distinguishable as grey. The one on the right to me would be too dark when in a low lit room.

This is funny/ironic.

In the hat poll, the CS Train hat won (in that particular outing anyway) and yet the middle grey, which to me is the Raider's grey, is winning the Henry poll! :-k

Thanks again for all your votes! It will be the same felt as seen in the middle of the pictures.
We hope that the first batch is ready for shipping by the end of september.
Marc will post the price later on. There's just one more question...... Which colour for the sweatband?
The both prototypes above have black sweats, but for me the nature teint looks much better on them.
Pictures are comming soon....
Perhaps it needs a new poll :TOH:

I would say use the brown sweats in the brown Henry. I've always loved the way grey hats look with a brown sweat.

My first choice before reading anything was the one in the middle. Would like to see it bashed though.
Then I gravitated to the one on the right. I could tell it wasn't SA color, but it looks so sharp!
Then when I read that the one on the left was the real thing, I thought, "Yeah, I like the warmer tone. But unlike others here, I say ditch the tan ribbon!

So my conclusive decision is this: I like the grey one. And I'll have one of each.
Seriously though, the middle one would go more with what I have to wear, so it gets my vote.

I voted for the middle, because I had to vote for one. I really like the one on the right as well, and I hope that at some point in the future, it might be possible to select the darker gray felt as an option.

I'll go with the one in the right. The darker color make the hat look more elegant and it will be more difficult to get stained. (My humble opinion...)

pre-orders

Post by Stefan »

It's now time to start taking pre-orders for the grey Henry!

We've decided to put a nature tan sweatband on it.

The price for the grey Henry is 189,00 Euro! I'm sorry that we cannot offer the (forum-)price of the original Henry to you for this one. Shipping is included!

Thanks to all who have given their opinion in!

Can we see pictures of the final version from all angles (including liner/sweatband) in different lighting (sunshine, cloudy, shadow, incandescent, fluorescent)? How does one pre-order a Clipper Henry, by emailing Marc? Too bad I missed the voting on this but I still can't decide between the middle and the right one.
