There are kangaroo hide sweatbands other than the one Marc uses but they are not of good quality. I think people over estimate kangaroo hide when it comes to sweatbands. Just because it's made of kangaroo hide doesn't make it the best sweatband. The ones I'm talking about either wasn't treated well to give them a nice finish or they were not put together well with the reed tape. Marc's are put together so well better than any other I have seen and they treat the leather like it should be. I went with my guy because he sews the reed tape to the leather very well and the leather is treated to give a great finish.
Thanks for the info Oak. On that note, what IS the best sweatband-only purchase I can make? Any leads? Just wanted to treat my old camptown to a nice little overhaul....

There's no place I can send you to. My guy, you would have to buy at least a gross. Thats 144 sweatbands.
I looked into selling blanks of my sweats and again would have to buy a gross. I won't sell ones with my name on them. I will and have sewn in parts for people.
What I like about Marc's kangaroo sweats is it takes a whole lot longer for them to shrink. I wore my hat from Marc for almost a year before I had to put the stretcher in the hat to bring it back to my size.
Marc actually has his custom made. He buys the roo hides from Australia, has them sent to his sweatband maker, and then has his maker to make his sweats. My fav sweatband of all time too.
I have not seen any but Marc's, but certainly believe what John says about the other one he ran across.
Plus, whereas I pay a bit less than 5 bucks for mine, Marc's cost him 40 bucks!!! He indeed sells a Deluxe AB. Fedora
