Not really pointless...
I put the belt underneath the flaps. Actually one of the cooler things I like about the bomber design. As I pull out the front from under the lap belt, the "break" in between the flaps reside over said lap belt.
Too hard to explain...head hurt...
Peace,
Cliff

Just be careful with lambskin. Seat belts are nylon. If you pull the nylon belt across the lambskin, it can literally cut the leather. Happened once with a lambskin and my shoulder strap of my old Volvo.
I did experience a GOOD thing flying out to the last QM summit. I had my brand new authentic Wested lambskin on, and it had that infamous out turn of the left hand side of the jacket. By wearing the jacket cramed into the aisle seat, the leather was 'trained' to turn inward in the correct direction, and has never gone back to the out turned condition. That has been since last May, so getting packed like a sardine in budget flight does have an occasional perk. (grins) Regards. Michaelson

Well...I don't own an Indy jacket...yet. But I do own one of FS's historical A-2 jackets in horse hide, and I just pull the seatbelt right over it. To me, it's an article of clothing (although a $400 article), and it's designed to be worn. If it can't stand up to daily wear, it's not worth the money.
Now...that being said I will certainly re-evaluate my position when I order and receive my Wested lamb Indy jacket.
Best,
Chris

My Wings Old Cow is getting alot of distressing marks from
where the seatbelt rubs it. Especially in the front, about
halfway up my chest, on my rightside.
Thats where the belt makes the jacket kinda scrunch up because
the belt it attached to the seat right under my right hip, and it
makes the belt pull tighter against the jacket there.
The rest of the belt just touches some where it contacts
the collar up on my left side.
I also pull the collar over the belt where it goes near my neck
on this left side as well as some of you have said. It is more
comfortable.
I don't really mind the distressing too much. But it does seem
to be consentrated in the one spot I mentioned above.
Thats what I am hoping does not happen to my new Authentic
Lambskin. I am trying to be careful, but I don't like being in
the car without a jacket on when it cold.
This was a good question by the way!! Its questions like
this that make us all realize we are not that different from each
other as we may think!! Funny how our brains work...

All your answers intrigue me, thanks for the responses.
I havent been wearing my Wested lately, but another leather jacket I recently bought (thanks Kit), thats truly one of a kind. Even though its still a leather jacket, I dont want to beat it up too much!
My wested I usually leave on in the car.

-"Best fedora you've owned in over 20 years? Try eternity, Ren!"
I think you have
"The Akubra Federation is the best fedora I've owned in over 20 years"
On your computers clipboard at all times, and just - PASTE, PASTE, PASTE, paaasssteee. First thing when you sit down at your computer you open the notepad file that has that quote on it, hit COPY, and youre off to COW - heh heh. You didnt think anyone would ever catch on did you...!
Good times...

I never even thought about this. I wear it in the car/van all the time, and just fire the seatbelt across the same, regardless if I have a wested on or not.
There isn't a mark on my jacket from my seatbelt, and it is lamb. I never have used pecards on it. It is showing lots of natural distressing, but not one mark from a seatbelt.
