How long does it take to age the whip?
I am getting a natural Strain and I was wondering how it take to age. Are there other ways other than use to start the process? I have the brown pecards dressing. Has anyone ever used this on a natural tan whip?
yep,
I've used pecards to, on my Morgan bullwhip, and over time its turned it to a nice sort of honey brown, and it started out natural tan.
Sunlight also darkens a whips body, but I wouldn't recommend going that route , by leaving it set in the sun, as it can totally dry you whip out among other things, if not looked after properly.
Nope,
just using the whip and Appling your favorite conditioner to it will do the trick, It'll happen before you know it, doesn't take that long,
and its the better road to take,
in my humble opinion .
All the best

indianakenobi,
I'm not sure if you remember seeing my whip at DragonCon, but I had had it almost a year and it had started off in the natural hide color. I less than a year, it's darkened up quite a bit. All I've done is crack it and pecarded it maybe 3-4 times over the last year, as well as cleaned it with saddle soap the same amount of times. (I pecard right after cleaning it with saddle soap.) Part of the joy was watching the whip darken over time.
Just don't microwave your whip. (no I didn't do this, but I've heard of someone doing it)

You know, I wondered the same thing. I hope they aren't just skinning these things for their hide. :evil:Indiana Texas-girl wrote: This makes a question come to surface(rather gross thought IMO)-
Do Aussies (or maybe even Aboriginees) eat kangaroo meat?
I actually have never told anyone what the whip is made from. People say "it has a funny smell" I just say it's the pecards.
