Meeting a whipmaker

Post by Indiego Jones »

Last july 2, I was in Torino city as part of my 30 days Europe-Egipt tour.
During this visit I had the oportunity to met Giovanni Celeste.

Giovanni is a whipmaker and he loves whipcracking.
This is a video I'd like to share with you:
He's cracking an 7 ft stock whip.

He's so passionate about whips! and you can see this in his eyes when he talks about all the years of research, and the limitations with the language because everyone who knows the correct techniques speaks english, the efforts he made learning english to try contact experts, like David Morgan.
Finally he had all the instructions and tutorials to build and excelent quality bullwhip. And he certainly does.

He also had a "collectors item": a lates 80s David Morgan 10 ft bullwhip.

It's beauuuuutifullll !!! =P~ (and the inevitable pic ;) )

The next one is a 10 ft Raiders bullwhip he made:

the fall is missing because of the previous crackings :whip: :D

He also is a great guitar player, with a collection of 10 (or was 15 ??) different guitars!!!!

Not only met the maker of my next whip, but I also found a good friend.-

Regards.-

I can't tell for sure in the video, but it looks more like a stockwhip than a bullwhip.

Probably my mistake. I'm not a grand whip connoisseur.
Maybe Giovanni can clarify this.
Thanks!
