Look at the man in front 1:06 in the video. The fedora looks very indy-like in my opinion

Is it a HJ? Probably not, but a very indy like fedora in another movie was interesting.

I worked in the animated special effects department on Who framed Roger Rabbit [and met Bob Hoskinson on one occasion, but that's beside the point]. Our department went through the film frame by frame many times over and I remember thinking the clothes and hats were very elegant. I have a feeling though that they were supplied by an American firm.

Well anyway I can agree with you, the bash on that hat is very Indy-like (Last Crusade if anything). Although I'm pretty certain the film was shot in the States so the costumes must be American, no?

The fact is that Indy was not the first man to wear a tall, wide brimmed fedora. This style was very popular in the 20's, 30's, and 40's. It does have an Indy like quality to it and the crease is pretty Indy, but it doesn't make it an HJ.

Most of the interiors were shot at Elstree. Quite a few shoots around LA as well, though (mostly exteriors, I'd reckon).

If this was indeed the work of an American company, I gotta find out who. That looks pretty good. Bash looks like a LC/Raiders hybrid with Temple airplane taper thrown in, really has character.

It may as well not have though, as pretty much anyone wearing a brown fedora will more often than not be asked, or get a comment about Indiana Jones. (unless of course you are in a Starbuck's in London)

May be a hat Art leased out. He has done that in the past. Art has a nice collection of vintage hats and these days, alot of films just lease hats. Way back, each studio had its own hatter to make the hat, when needed. Fedora

Hey Gang! I don't remember WHERE I got the info. but Herbert Johnson did indeed do the hats for Roger Rabbit. You can even find it (or could find it) in some of their catalogue write ups.

But they did claim to have done the hats.

Coincidentally, I know something about this.

I met Richard LeParmentier a little while back, who played Lt. Santino in the film (he also played General Motti in Star Wars).
I specifically asked him about the costuming on the film, although I was mostly interested in the suits because only a few days earlier I had been swearing up and down to my wife that they HAD to be vintage, because no modern suits look like that (especially his).

He said that every piece of costuming was vintage, suits and hats included. Since the bulk of the film was shot in England, he said they got almost all of the suits from a vintage clothing place in England, but in the end, they didn't have enough and had to send to LA for a few more things for some of the extras and minor characters. But he was VERY clear about the fact that everything was vintage. He said it was a particular obsession on that set.

Final coincidence: my son and I watched this movie on DVD last night. weird.

Thanks for the screengrabs! Although anyone analyzing them should realize that the grabs are not at the proper aspect ratio, so the hat looks taller than it really is.
