Gear Pile

Post by kiltie »

Mods: I swear I did a search for an existing thread that was started as an open invitation ( and I know we've got the "cost" thread currently going ) but I couldn't find any of the old "show us your gear" threads. If this can be merged, thanks. If not, may I humbly suggest a sticky "show us" thread, which would A) be beneficial to new comers looking for specific pieces, and B) eliminate clutter like the one I'm starting here. I know also, that Mitch has his "gear in action" thread, but I don't have a photographer at the moment ( nor a suitable location :? )

Sooooo...ONWARD!
My gear as of today, starting with the fedora:

Adventurebilt; Raiders ( Thanks Indiana Johnson ) -

This one has a lot of the mottling that Fedora describes in this http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=41239 thread. I like it A LOT! Looks very cool.

Adventurebilt; CS ( Thanks rrhanselka ) -

A really rugged hat, this one is in sore need of a reblock after dunking it in the tub. The treatment, etc...in the city water also gave this hat a serious greenish cast.

Whips:

Purewhips ( thanks, Gus! ) 8ft, 8 plait -

My first real whip of any consequence. Great starter at a great price with EXCELLENT customer service!

Paul Stenhouse ( Thanks to the Walt "Sergei" Rybinski family and estate and to Mike and his efforts ) 9ft 12plait roo -

I don't think I really have to say anything here :-

Stuff:

Alden 405s ( thanks G-Mann ) and Keppler belt with Todd's holster -

Bags:

Mark VII with Todd's clearance strap -

WPG Mark VI with WPG strap ( unk country of origin ) -

Jacket and shirt:
Todds shirt and Wested ( unk production - British made; purchased off ebay, distressed by me ) -

All Gear color comparison ( including Wested Pants ):

without ( I don't know why they seem so washed out. It's overcast, and I'm not using a flash :-k ) -

So there's some gear. Please, no comments on needing to re-seal my deck or mow the lawn ( I sold the mower for gear, and I'm trying to grow my own "jungle adventure land" ).

I only have a few pieces of gear, I'm quite new to this hobby and I've already spent most of my money on props.
I'll show off the pieces of gear I DO have and I'll update this post later on as I get more gear.

Shirt:

An Adventurebilt shirt I bought from another member here. Very comfortable shirt, great in the summer.
The bagstrap is only temporary

Bag:

A MK VII Magnoli Clothiers bag. Distressed by me.

and that's pretty much it. Not praticulary impressive I know, but hey you gotta start somewhere :)

Very authentic distressing on the bag  . If you've got any tips beyond what's been posted, you might want to give a rundown of your technique in the "Care and Distressing" section.

The bag was distressed very easily, I'll make a short topic about it in the distressing section then :)

edit:
Just made a thread about the distressing:
