My new Nowak LC

Post by crismans »

I've gotten my Nowak LC and I couldn't be happier with it. I think Tony is getting better and better on the distressing end, and I think this jacket has become my favorite of all of my jackets. Which is weird as the LC was my least favorite at first but I've really grown to love it. It was built exactly to my specs so any non-SA features are my doing. It's in the dark Crystal Skull cowhide which I've thought for a while would make a great LC jacket. I took Han Jones and Orb's pocket specs (thanks guys!) and upsized them some, because I'm a bigger guy and wanted to have a similar ratio on my jacket. I decided I wanted more of a Hero look for the sleeves and had Tony use the Raiders sleeve configuration for more of a tapered sleeve. I really didn't think that this would make that much of a difference but you can really feel it when you compare this jacket to my CS.

I'll add a pic of me wearing it in the next couple of days.

Looks fantastic Crismans!
The dark CS hide seems perfect for a Last Crusade jacket.
I'm getting a second CS jacket made in the darker hide, I can't wait!
Great distressing job on that one too. It must take Tony ages.

Fantastic. One of the things I love is the leather distresses to a nice tan leather color, rather than gray. Just perfect.

Looks like you just got off the tank.

Congrats, cris! I personally don't like my jackets that distressed but yours replicates the film version as perfectly as you can get. Another masterpiece by Tony! BTW cris, don't you already have the shrunken lamb or the 747 cow?

Thanks very much for the comments. PSBIndy, I usually don't like my jackets distressed this much either, but I think a major point of the Last Crusade jacket is the distressing. To me, at least, it doesn't look right without that signature distressing.

This makes 3 Nowaks for me: a CS, a shrunken lamb Raiders, and this one. I'll probably get a ToD eventually and maybe call it a day? :[

The pockets look really good on that jacket, and the distressing make it look like it came right out of the film.

And I agree with Rex -- let's see some shots of the jacket on you. I want to see more of that collar, which is probably the most visually apparent distinctive features of the LC jacket.

I'm very curious to see the differences in Tony's CS and LC collars. We were told that he changed the LC prototype collar to make it sit flat in his CS jacket, and that he changed the way the jacket was put together in order to do that. For his LC jackets, I'm wondering if he replicated the LC prototype collar or started with his CS collar design and modified that.

I'll definitely get some pics of me wearing it over the weekend. My photographer/wife has been feeling under the weather so I'm letting her rest.

The jacket was $750 and I think the wait time was about a week and a half. I missed it on two separate days because I didn't get home in time. :o

Here, at last, are some pictures of me wearing the jacket. I think I'm going to have to trade in my wife for my dad on the picture taking, however. I just don't understand her. She'll take forever lining up a shot of our daughter but just points and clicks my Indy gear. No where near the level of a Mitch Larue portrait!

What's up with that?!? :-k

By the way, it looks a little short but it's not. I got it a little longer so it actually fits me a little below SA length.

Oh, and I know there was some question on the collar construction. I have to admit that I've only given it a cursory look, but the collar stand on my LC is thinner than on my Crystal Skull.

That doesn't look too short at all Crismans, because the sleeve-length-to-body ratio is perfect.
It looks just like the jacket from The Last Crusade! Suits you great too, it's the best jacket I've seen on you!

Thanks again for all the compliments guys (and gals!). This jacket really has become my favorite and I think it fits me the best as well. I love, love the Raiders jacket but for me, the LC or CS looks better.

Of course, this doesn't mean I won't still my Raiders... :D

Yojimbo, I'll get a shot of the back in the next couple of days (no, really).
