Wested ROLA Custom HH arrived w/Pix
My Wested ROLA Custom horsehide arrived on Friday...
They got the fit right and the leather is great but they put a heavy brass zipper on and lined the sleeves with satin instead of the requested cotton. I exchanged e-mails with Gemma a few times making sure it was to come with a nickle zipper and cotton sleeves and was told they had been marked on the order. But I was also told all ROLA Custom jackets have the brass zipper as standard. This directly contradicts what is stated on their website. There is a huge disconnect somewhere...
Anyway I'm happy with the jacket. Here's some pix of it. I'll post some with it on when I get a chance.

Re: Wested ROLA Custom HH arrived
Finally got yours too eh? Too bad that it didn't turn out exactly like you had asked The key with my jacket was calling once a week for the 1.5 months it took for the jacket to arrive. I found speaking to them made it much easier to confirm my specs.
Anyhow... jacket looks great! Nice to hear it fits great too! The finish on the HH looks really nice, not too shiny. Glad you are happy with it though, and you can always swap the zipper at a tailor shop if it bothers you that much. Remember, there was a brass zip at the beginning of the movie in Jock's plane

That HH is a really nice hide that just gets better as you wear it. It's too bad all of your specs weren't met though.

Re: Wested ROLA Custom HH arrived
Yeah, I had problems with the zipper too on my order. I tried to explain to Gemma how the web site contradicts what their "policy" is but there was just no getting through to her She said the nickel zipper is cheaper and is not as sturdy as the brass.
Nice jacket jmac, wear it in good health!

The jacket looks good. How does it fit?
Why would anything on a 'custom' order be considered 'standard?

We really needs an "Indy slaps his forehead" Smilie!
AGAIN!? Why can't simple instructions be followed? Bizarre.
You should have them pay postage to return it and fix it if those problems bother you, though. No-one should have to keep calling, checking on a custom job - it's their business to get it right.
It's still a nice looking jacket, man!

Beautiful looking jacket.
If the zip bothers you ask for a change. But, sounds like you got away with not having to pay customs, I'd not want to risk tempting fate.
As for the sleeves, don't sweat it, in 3 or 4 years when it comes time to reline it get them changed, if you think you need, I've had both, I like both.

Relining every 3 to 4 years? May as well get a fleece jacket Most of my leather jacket linings last 8 to 10 years with good wear...Kt Templar wrote: As for the sleeves, don't sweat it, in 3 or 4 years when it comes time to reline it get them changed, if you think you need

Re: Wested ROLA Custom HH arrived
Not 'every', I had a satin lined one that got a reline after near daily wear. Some people have 10 year old jackets that have never been nor needed a reline. YMMV.CM wrote:Relining every 3 to 4 years? Re: Wested ROLA Custom HH arrived
I think the jacket looks really good, can't wait for the one I ordered yesterday.
It's a bit concerning that Wested seems not to follow through on requests, I hope they get mine right.

Re: Wested ROLA Custom HH arrived
I ordered a custom Raiders jacket on May 28th and received it on June 11th. It's awesome! I stated that I wanted a silver 5 gauge zipper and I got one on mine. I only emailed a few specs along with the jacket and I got everything I asked for. I never even called them after I placed my order.

The old hot shower / bath / washer trick works wonders on HH, huh? Very nice finish.

Nice work mate that HH is rocking (no pun intended). A couple of questions for thee . .
I noticed that the sleeve length on your HH was a bit longer than on your previous Wested custom goat. In your photos, the sleeve looks a bit shorter than some others I have seen - did it shrink up a tad after the shower?
Also did the shower knock the sheen off the jacket and did it darken up any?
Cheers
Jonesy

The sleeves were ordered at 24.5 inches and they shrunk up maybe a 1/4 inch. The sleeves on my other jacket were definitely short for me. I think its just my stance in the photo that makes them look short. They don't feel too short at all. The hot shower definitely took some sheen off and darkened it a little.
Cheers

Re: Wested ROLA Custom HH arrived***NEW PIX***
I know what you mean Jeff - the standard lenth on my OTR Raiders goat feels too long (fractionally) although it is at the first knuckle of my thumb and that is standard tailor measurement. I too am wanting to knock the sheen off my glossy goat and "pull" and "crimple" it a bit. A bit darker would also be good.
I was sorely tempted by the HH but could not wait for the custom timeline. Yours looks "screen ready" now (if not already SA).
Cheers
Jones

Re: Wested ROLA Custom HH arrived w/Pix
That's a nice looking jacket! When I ordered my jacket I thought of HH too, but decided to go with washed goat eventually.
I experienced similar problems with Wested though: I ordered the nickel zipper, but got the brass one. They even forgot to put in the gussets I wanted.
It's still a nice jacket, but apart from my measurements it's not as customized as I would like it to be. I was too lazy to tell them to rework it, for I was not willing to go through all that stress again.
