Anyone have a Noble Spalko/Mutt Sword?
Does anyone have the Noble Collections Spalko/Mutt sword? I'm interested in purchasing one but would like to hear some comments from those of us that already have one. How is the quality? Does it come with a scabbard? Also could you post photos if you got them?
Thanks!
Thanks!

The quality is pretty much what you would expect. It is nothing more than a display piece. It looks just like what you see and does not come with a scabbard.

I'm not that fond of Noble products. My Noble Indy whip was the wrong color and the leather quality is very cheap (even for $200 pricetag).

I have one, and will be glad to post pictures if you like, but like someone mentioned earlier, they're pretty much the same as what you see in the pictures.
From a distance, you could easily mistake it for the real deal, and it does look pretty impressive. But like others have said already, up close it is pretty "meh".
It feels a bit strangely balanced, and when you flick it, there's a hollow ring to it. The black part that looks like leather from a distance is actually just black plastic, and there's a LucasFilm trademark written on to the blade (though I'm told it could be easily removed with some nail polish remover).
It's not really much of a sword, but then again, I don't think any of us were really expecting one. However, when you hold it in your hands, it really becomes evident that this is meant to look pretty mounted on a wall (though ironically it doesn't come with any kind of 'mount), and feels basically like a heavier, metal version of those plastic, hollow toy swords we all used to play with growing up.
For what it's worth, it's basically perfect as a display 'prop' though...

I agree with Kyle and Castor. The sword is a nice wall piece, but that's all. There is no display stand with it either..In fact, when they shipped it to me they only put Styrofoam around the handle and tip of the sword. The blade was wrapped in a thin plastic bag and the box had holes because of the lack of packaging. The sword has no edge and works for decorative purposes or the five foot rule...

Re: Anyone have a Noble Spalko/Mutt Sword?
Thanks for the info!
I'm looking at putting together a Spalko outfit for my Fiancee. I found a good source for the belt, gloves and buckle, already have the Tokarev and holster, so I now need the sword, scabbard and frog. The frog is easy to find on ebay and can be modified to look more S.A. I'm thinking of picking up the sword below off ebay. Only $40.00 with shipping and kind of has the right look and it has a scabbard.
Appreciate all the help!!

I am quite pleased with it for $88 dollars.... but more than $120 and it would be an easy "no thanks".
The sword is very accurate to what is seen on screen. I was impressed. At first I was leary of the different shape it has on the sides of the blade. One side has the popular fold down the center from the tip to the handle ( /\ ), the other side is a ( U ) shape. I thought this was "cheap", like one side was for show and the other for display, however, that is how the blade is in the film. I was not surprised to see it was not sharpened or battle ready...fine because the film ones were not likely either.
This was my first replica from Noble. As a frequent customer of Master Replicas I was more than displeased with the lack of some sort of plauqe and a wall mount. It's a sad presentation....a cheap shipping box and a receipt. No write up of the prop or anything.
That is lame. For the $195 original price it should have came with that and more.

Re: Anyone have a Noble Spalko/Mutt Sword?
It's all a matter of personal perspective. Replica swords are not intended to be practical weapons in most cases, and Noble is not one of the few companies that sell combat ready swords. So, it depends on what you seek in a replica. If you want a pretty display piece that you can play with from time to time, the Mutt sword is very nice. I saw MJ's this weekend in person. But if you want a high-end practical russian sabre.... your digging in the wrong place.

It's not quite as fancy as the noble collection sword but Museum Replicas is selling similarly styled cut and thrust sword on closeout right now. http://museumreplicas.com/p-256-militar ... apier.aspx
