Brian Nemeth whips...

Was surfing Ebay last night and found a whip vendor who claims to have made more whips than anyone. Have you guys heard of him? Here is some history posted on the auction:

I'm Brian Nemeth, great grandson of Joseph Nemeth, a Hungarian Soldier, Saddler and Whip Maker.
On March 31, 1855 Joseph Nemeth arrived on the SS Aurora at Moreton Bay, Queensland Australia.
He later married Anne Doyle and they settled at Allora on the Darling Downs, Queensland where he started his Saddlery and Whip Making business.
They raised four children, one of who was my grandfather William and his brother Joseph.
The two brothers took over the business during the 1890's, when their father retired, and kept it going until 1906 when they decided to close and leave Allora.
The family home in Allora is still lived in and in good repair.

When my brother Peter started making whips, in 1968, I soon realized that the gift of whip making was in my genes also.
I quickly developed new methods, which helped us to produce whips in large quantities to supply the trade.
I also knew that I had and still have a great love for whip making.
My brother Peter left during 1969 and through the years I have passed on these fine workmanship and skills to my family.
I claim at this point in my life, to have made more whips than any other person in the world, having made between approximately 80 000 to 100 000 whips.

Hi Scott,

I have seen a variety of Nemeth whips, and have also heard many opinions of their whips from other whipmakers and whipcrackers.

While their family has a very interesting history, quantity does not equal quality.

Hey Scott, I agree with Paul.

The Nemeth's have been around for years. They have an interesting family background & history and are very passionate about whips and their product. Compared to many other whips available though, I’ve never really considered the whips they produce in volume to be on that higher end of the scale. They crack, I’ve seen worse but I’ve seen better. I gotta agree with Dan and Paul I am from the old school way or reputation "someone that has to profess they do this or that means nothing to me without proof, by word of mouth". Plus the handles look "uncomfortable" to me.

Right. They seem to sell by volume. If you google other prices on similar whips, you'll see they're a bit pricey when you can get better quality (taper, shape and proportions in general) at the same price.

Right! I was curious about them but glad I solicited some expert opinions. Of course, I've never even heard of many of these whip companies.
