I have to say I am happy with my Keppler except for the notorious brim cut in the front of the hat. Received one of the first batches of the new model in Sept 08. It took 3-4 months to get. Sounds somewhat reasonable. This 2 year business is nuts. Might as well not make the hats at that rate, especially since it is a factory hat.

I've just re-read this thread, and the longest wait I've seen has been just shy of 15 months. Where did this two year wait you refer to come from? :-k

Not in this thread. Beleive it was another that took a turn on wait times. I beleive they ordered in Feb 07. When I saw that I nearly flipped.

Oh, you got a nicked up brim, too? Mine had a little "tail" on the front which wore down with some use, but I've seen worse.

Yeah, I have one as well. I believe we may have been the 1st customers that received the newer model. I don't really want to pull the xacto knike on it just yey. I may have Oak work on it when it needs to be reblocked.

What is up with Lee's phone and computer? Does anyone know of a good time to call? I've been trying to contact him on the phone for a week, and all it does is ring and ring and then I get the message that his mailbox is (still) full. E-mails and PM's aren't working either ( as far as I can tell, he hasn't posted on here since December - I realize also that he was having some serious virus problems with his computer at the time ). I'm gonna mail out some snail-mail inquiries today but, we'll see what happens. Image

( Does anyone know if he's going to be at any of the upcoming Southern California gun shows? )

EDIT: Finally! - just got off the phone with Lee ( he'd gone to a wedding and forgot his phone ), and he filled out the mailing label while we were talking. Soooooo.......fingers crossed for a delivery soon. [-o< And also, he will be at the upcoming Crossroads of the West gun show in Costa Mesa on the 28th & 29th at the end of this month - first building on the left.

IT HAS ARRIVED.

YESSSS!!!! \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ Saw that big white box waiting for me as I was pulled into the driveway this afternoon. Definetly the best Indy hat I have owned thus far - the Cairo bash on that tall, stovepipe crown is just chock full of "Raiders" goodness. Thank you Lee for another outstanding piece of gear for my addiction. To reiterate what Michaelson and others have said, CALL Lee when ordering or requesting updates, and keep in touch on a regular basis. If all you get is his message box ( which is usually full ), try again later - you'll eventually catch him. He can get very busy, so don't give up ( it can be frustrating at times - just read this thread! ). Here's hoping you guys get your orders in soon. And now in closing, some pics:

The Keppler fedora taking its place with the gear.

Thanks again, Lee! :D Image

Correction. YOU may have been the first to get the new version.. Mine in comparison looks like the old ones.. shorter crown, and different felt than the new one I had and sold.

The brim cut on my hat was practically non-existent. I had to look hard to find it - it's nearly perfect ( and mine was in the back, not the front ). Vindy & Jonny Whip Crack - you guys get your hats yet? Just curious. Image

Jones,

What size are you? Was thinkng about selling mine. I received my Keppler back in September 08. It was in the 1st batch of the new style of hat (felt color & ribbon). It is a size 59 Raiders bash and is just a tad loose on me. It is in excellent condition (never gotten wet, etc) and you wouldn't have to wait & wait & wait :D

Lee's phone number is somewhere in this thread. I believe it is in the first page.

As an aside, Solent MKIII, the bow work on your Keppler is very nice. Much better than the bow on the Keppler I just sold on ebay (though still waiting payment for).

You're welcome. With Lee's site down, info like that can be hard to track down. Have you tried calling him? I've had better success in calling. Also, do you have his number?

Hi, I'm a longtime lurker, but brand new member. This site is wonderful.

I ordered a size 61 in KOTCS style in May of last year, right after the film came out. I talked to Lee a little bit in June. He confirmed he'd received my check. I haven't heard a thing since then. Does anybody happen to have his number? I no longer have it for reference. I'm getting worried that it's been over a year. Thanks.

Lee comes through in the end. I once had to wait 2 years for a shirt and a pair of pants I was told were made from original patterns by the original tailor for Raiders. The reason Lee gave me for the long delay was that the tailor had to put orders he received from the movie studios first, which made sense, although I must admit the wait was excruciating.

Yes, but that was a custom job. A year wait on a factory hat is not the norm. I would call Lee straight away and find out what is going on. Lee has been around for a long time and there is a reason for that. I'm sure it just slipped his mind. But if it slipped his mind, he needs reminding.

Well, I had to wait a whole year for one of my stock HJ's from Lee, too. Long waits and this hobby seem to go together like love & marriage. It wouldn't hurt to give him a call, though.

Got my ROTLA Kepppler back on Sept 08. Took about 4 months. I had to follow up all the time though. Sold it a couple of months ago to Albert Jones in Switzerland. Was going to get another one until I made the mistake and got stunk into the Penman vortex :D . I have 2 of his hats (100% Beaver Brown CS, Grey CS hybrid) and a 100% Rabbit Raider on the way. Now you know why i had to sell the Keppler ;) .

Yes they do. The wait is part of the experience. Without it, its like going through high school and not having that one physics teacher that no one can avoid. I hope that makes sense.
