While watching the new Three Stooges release on DVD,episode "Pop goes the Easel" (1935) I noticed the Cop chararcter's fedora is a very close match to Indy's raiders hat. Tall crown and stove pipe sides. Not a tight front pinch though. Interesting.
Woo Woo Woo!!

Pop the DVD into your cd-rom and hit play, when the image comes up, pause it and hit the Print Screen button on your key board. Go into Paint and pull down the Edit menu on the top and click paste. Save and upload. Simple. Its even more simple if you have an image capturing feature on your DVD palying program.
Thats just the way its creased. If you drop the back down further. I think you'd get a nice Raiders look and possibly some reverse taper. Very nice find!
Hey, Moe! - I just bashed a 360 stovepipe as close to those pictures as I could, and I think that's about a 360 stovepipe block. A Stetson Open Road gets straight up sides front and back, but is actually as tapered as a Fed 4. This top bash is so shallow in back though, actually past the lower and about at the upper transition point, that that straight back is virtually as straight as the block is, in my opinion. ...Hmmmm.. 1935, you say...

Oh yeah. When it comes to the block in the heyday of hats, every imaginable blockshape was out there, including the 360. And many different domes too. They even made a slanted block, with one side higher than the other, as well as blocks with high fronts and low backs, and vice versa. The blockshapes were almost endless. And this is the reason several different blocks that share not much in common can pull off the Raiders look. I did not always know this, by the way! I thought only one block shape would do it. Not so. Fedora
Yeah, The new DVD's are fully remastered audio/video-wise. Very well done.
As you may suspect,I've also found the huge variety of hat styles quite entertaining as well.
