Got my 1957 Legend

Post by Terrasolo »

Only had time to take these few pics here because I get married on Sunday so time is a bit tight. However as I was excited to get it I thought I would find the time to share.

No pics of it in it's natural habitat (my head) as I had to take the pics myself and they really didn't come out too well.

It's a Camptown Hats 1957 Legend with the Adventurebuilt crown. I asked for quite a few things such as the Raider Raven bar look, the back brim from Last Crusade, and a few other things along the way. Ken made the hat so that the pinch was not to tight as it will get that way overtime of me wearing it. It's not an exact Raven Bar style but then it is what I asked for, an amalgamation of some of the best features of the hats over time.

It took about a night to get used to the high crown (my last hat was a mass market Indy hat from Lucas films and the crown is so small now!) but the more I wear it it looks better and better. The fit is just a hair snugg to the point that it leaves a red mark on my forehead when I take it off, but not for very long. Does anyone know if they fix will relax after a bit of wear?

Enough of me, here are the pics. I hope to take it on our Honeymoon to Mexico and get some nice pics at the ruins down there. Anyway, hope you enjoy. When I can, I'll try to get some pics the hat wearing me.

I really like that hat, and especially that creasing job. It'll be nice to see Camptown get back on track ( no pun intended ) somewhere down the road. The liner looks really flashy and "high-end". How's the sweatband?
I trust the ribbon stitches are not as visible in person ( only in the photo ), and other than that, it's a really nice looking hat!!!

If it's the standard Camptown sweat, it's my personal favorite of ALL hats made. They're vented, making the hat a VERY cool wearing felt in hot weather.

Yes, they all loosen up with wear.

The ribbon stitches were super evident on my camptown. each stitch was at least quadruple stitched and the thread is a thick synthetic material. it was a bit over kill. when i ended up replacing the ribbon with a darker one, the old ribbon actually had noticable holes where the stitches had been.

Looks great! The bash looks good & it has the beginnings of looking like a well worn friend. I'm sure it is just the photo image but the ribbon looks sun faded a bit. I absolutely love my Legend. Yes, I replaced the ribbon as well only because I wanted something darker. It is my best fitting hat too, right out of the box. It took no stuffing the front or back of the sweatband to mould it to my noggin. The brim right out of the box was soft & pliable & has gotten nice & floppy over time. I don't think they but as much shellac in this body.
Please do share pics of it on its natural habitat (your noggin) from your Honeymoon. I wore mine on my Honeymoon as well.

Congratulations on getting your Legend & congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!  Enjoy them both for a lifetime of adventure.

On a side note, I hope that Ken gets things up and running again and maybe release his Noir Model of the Metropolitan. Maybe with the touches that he has put into the Legend.

Cheers!

Hey everyone, thanks for all the compliments!

Just got in form the wedding so we are doing the wind down thing. Though I would answer what I could. The Sweatband is the vented kind - I'll take pics when i get back in town - and yeas the stitches on the ribbon are noticeable on the hat itself, but only if you look for them. Otherwise your eye is not drawn to them.

As for the crease, I originally wanted the Raiders raven bar bash (something I didn't even know was different when I started out in the prop world as I saw a pic and said, "Oh yeah, that one" but then I always loved the Last crusade hat. In the end I asked for a few things from each hat and got the best of the best. I even ended up with a 57 Legend AB crown, when I ordered a 36 Fieldmaster. A change that i gladly welcome.

Anyway, that's all for now, more pics when i get back, hopefully on my trip. Thanks for the kind words about the wedding. We had a blast and beautiful weather. it was a perfect day.
