I can still recall how it felt to read in a post from Oak that my Grey Seaplane was ready to be mailed! :D
Congrats to both of you, jnicktem & WhipDude!
You DO realize, though, that the rest of us now instantly become a ravenous mob who'll want to see photos of those handsome Penman's on your respective noggins once you get them, right?

Now how cool is that?!?!?!?

I actually looked at my front step this morning hoping to see the Penman hat co. box sitting there, even though I knew it was shipped this morning! Hey.... it could have made the distance from Oregon to Minnesota in about 2 hours.... right?

My guess is that it will probably get here around Monday.... and I know everyone here (except Mitch) wants to see pictures of it on me noggin'. Well those pics might take a while to get since I am working soooo much, but I will do it the first chance I get! :D

Thanks again John!

Of course Mitch! I'll be sure to get plenty of photos of me wearing the hat. I've never worn a true Raiders hat before so I have not a clue as to how it will look.
I ordered a Raiders Beaver with white liner jnicktem. I know I can't wait to see that box at my door step! Unfortunately, Monday is Memorial Day so we have to wait until Tuesday! ](*,) At least the hat is on its way though.

Ah that's right.... Memorial Day.... I never get holidays off so I never remember when it is a holiday until it actually gets here.

Oh well.... I can wait one more day! It will be hard.... but I'll survive.

Get your hat jnicktem? I got mine and thought that the box was smaller and lighter than expected! I do not have photos yet but I'll be sure to share mine. My expectations were beyond met in this hat! Going from a 5 year old Fed Del. III to this hat is a huge step. I liked my Fed. but did not like the bash at all. This is the Raiders hat I've been wanting. Fantastic customer service as well. The fit is spot on which is something I always worry about when ordering apparel online.

As I was driving home from work today (about a half an hour ago) I decided to drive out front of my townhouse instead of going behind it to park, because I couldn't wait to see if there was something on my front step waiting for me.

So I turn the corner, nearly hit two old ladies and a kid, saw a white box sitting by my door, barely got the car in park before I opened the door and ran to it. At first I thought it wasn't it, cause like Whipdude said, it seemed smaller and lighter than I was expecting. But I turned it over and saw the Penman Hat Co. logo. I took my pocket knife and opened up the box right there on my front step, only a couple of yards from where my car is "parked" with one tire on a curb and the drivers side door still open.

When I finally managed to open the box with my excited fingers, I saw a glimpse of the grey felt. I took it out of the plastic and was AMAZED by how soft the felt is!!! I took a quick look at the bash, and noticed most of it came out during the shipping. But that didn't stop me from trying it on! Fits...like...a.... GLOVE (or hat in this case).

So ever since I got it I have been messing around with the bash trying to get it just right.... I think I am starting to come close... but I am no good when it comes to this kind of thing.

Let me end this post with this: JOHN, I LOVE THIS HAT!!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!

The hat looks great. And I agree. That black liner does look great in that hat. Wear it proudly and wear it well.

GREAT looking hat, jnicktem! Outside and INSIDE.
;)
From the minute I first saw the photo John first posted of the Black Penman Liner I thought "That would look so good in a Penman Grey Seaplane" and I've since made arrangements with John when he nears completion of my Penman Brown Raiders I'll send him my Grey Seaplane and have him finish my hat by doing a "Liner Switcheroo" (so that I get my White Liner with the Gold Print in my Brown Penman and the Black Liner in my Grey Penman.)
So, thanks for posting that "Liner shot", jnicktem...

My 2d Penaman was a modified CS Grey (Grey w/ brown specs). I had John put in a black liner. I think it just makes the hat look great. That reminds me, I will post pics. :)

I got off work a little early today and decided to wear out my new Penman. I have the bash just about where I want it to be, all I got to do is keep re-inforcing it. I had so many compliments on it and each time I had to tell people about it. I told them about who made it, and how he custom makes these hats BY HAND to fit the person ordering it, not just in size but in style.

EVERYONE loved my new hat! And that INCLUDES me!

Jnicktem, that looks great. The black liner is perfect with it. I wonder what the grey would look like with a crimson or garnet liner?
I presume you'll share some outdoor pics in the sun light? Wearing it of course. ;) Congratulations!! Another amazing lid by Penman.

You know, Oak... so many times in the past I've said - both here and in other threads devoted to your fine hats - that I was giving your work a "tip of the hat" (usually out of respect for your fine craftsmanship...)
:)
Well now (and for no other reason than it's long overdue) I can finally do that...
and frankly Oak, you're the Hatter who's #1 on my list for this (little) Honor:

Thanks for all the GREAT work you do, John... It's a privelege to be one of your many valued clients.
(And MANY thanks to McFLY! - by way of gwyddion (I'm just catching up now!) - for this great - and useful! - little smiley icon!)
Cheers,

I'm sorry I'm at a loss for words John! Your hats are so darn beautiful. My beaver is breaking in nicely. I'll get a pix to you as soon as I have some down time. My next will be a granite beaver with Cairo styling then another brown with Cairo. Sorry, but Cairo is my all time fav and they all end up looking that way anyhow! lol

I'm not sure I am happy enough with the photos I took to post them. I may wait until school is over to take a few more photos. After having it for longer then a week, the sweatband is nice and smooth. It feels great while wearing it and same goes for the liner as well. I left the general bash on the hat as I think it looks pretty good on me and the pinch wont destroy the felt over time. :D
