Mark VII Damaged
I noticed a couple weeks ago that the knit webbing that holds the metal ring on my Mark VII has worn over halfway through from regular use. It looks like it isn't going to hold up much longer, so I haven't worn it in a while. Wade mentioned to me that he had the same problem, so now he replaces the webbing part with leather. I'll probably end up doing that as well, but it won't be screen accurate anymore. So my question is, does anybody know any alternatives that will keep the bag looking SA?

Re: Mark VII Damaged
I have heard of people making new loops from the left over strap.

Yea, and now I'm wishing that I had kept it. I suppose I could get another bag, keep the strap, and sell the new bag in the junkyard, but that'll have to wait until the rough school year to summer job transition period ends.

Re: Mark VII Damaged
Why not put a leather strap under the new one so that the leather can't be seen?
That should do it for another 10 years or so.

Re: Mark VII Damaged
You could also use a synthetic webbing, that would last longer too.

Re: Mark VII Damaged
This must have been an original bag?
Re: Mark VII Damaged
I've got about a dozen of the original web straps from the MKVIIs I've sold in the past with only the leather strap. I planned on offering a repair service for the MKVIIs but am too busy with leather gear and other stuff to get into sewing right now.
If anyone is interested I can send you some of the webbing to replace your ring attachment for the cost of shipping only.
Just send me an email at the shop if you need some and we'll work it out.

Yea, it's an original. One of the members here generously donated a webbing strap, thanks again. I'm planning on using that and the tutorial in that linked thread to make a really strong replacement loop. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Mark VII Damaged
Yep, that's the one. I learned a lot repairing my bag with polypropylene webbing. I do have some of the extra samples left over, so if the OP is in need, PM me and I can send some along for a buck or two.
