My new U.S. Wings jacket

Post by Mark Brody »

I just received a U.S. Wings jacket this weekend as a gift. It's not the Indy jacket, as you can see, but I think this one will get a lot more use, since I can wear it in uniform. We finally had our graduation from pilot training on Friday (15 May), and my Mom was gracious enough to get me a leather jacket. In the Air Force, only flight crew are allowed to wear this jacket. Even as students, we were only allowed to wear the green Nomex jackets, which they don't make in my size, so I'm very happy with this one. In fact, I like the jacket so much, I wish I'd gone to Sgt Hack instead of Wested for my Indy jacket. Too late now.

Here's the rest of my pilot training story:

congrads on your graduation and the A-2 jacket. I have a wings horsehide and it's very warm. My only complaint is from wearing it so much the cloth has started to fray near the collar otherwise it's great.

Mark; the jacket looks great. Congratulations on getting your wings! The jacket looks like horsehide to me - can you confirm?

A very nice jacket, indeed. I, too, am an A-2 afficionado and have just received a new U.S. Wings WWII A-2 jacket. I am very pleased except for the fact that the knit cuffs and waistband are nylon. I was under the impression that they were made of wool. Other thabn that, so far, I am very pleased.

I will post photos later.

If you desire, the nylon cuffs and waistband can be replaced with wool offerings from another manufacturer.
