The ole TN1 back/front question

In answer to PLATON's doubts about the TN1 pattern being based on an equal front and back length - here are a couple of pics of my jacket to illustrate the fact. Notice how, when layed flat, the back length seems much shorter than the front! You see this in Raiders quite often, when Indy's back seems to ride up above his belt line, while the front still droops down. It's a very important characteristic of the jacket in my opinion - a much more dynamic look than when the back seems lower than the front, which is what I generally got with my Westeds.

I have never had the back lower then the front on my westeds.

but thats becasue I usually ask for the front to be 1'' longer then the back. and with the of the rack jackets they come long all the way making the back looking really long and droopy and the front seems to ride up a bit.

anyways.. I totally agree with you with the importance of this feature

It seems the back hangs higher than the front most of the times...

Although after a few minutes wearing the jacket, it does tend to slip off the shoulders a bit, lowering the back. This happens a little less with the cowhide - probably because it's still a little stiff and new.

You'll also notice the "croco" look really isn't as noticeable as some might think - and particularly on film.

This is what I noticed straight away. It almost looks smooth and free from texture in a lot of your footage yet we know in reality it is far from it. Very interesting. Great jackets and video.

yep. i noticed and its very interresting. the lens just doesnt capture the grain.

Bear in mind any texture will give the video compressor the willies (too much screen info). In response, it will basically blur it out of existence on-screen.

On the contrary - personally I think all my other jackets had back panels that were too long, which made them look less cool that the actual Raiders jacket. It's all subjective of course - but as far as I'm concerned the back panel is probably the best feature of the Nowak Indy1

Thanks whiskey, a video is worth a hundred pictures in this case......it's interesting to me how when just walking in a straight line, say 10 yards the shrunken lamb works its way even more 'off the shoulder' and the back length works its way down more....again a great video and 'production values'.......

Exactly. It is the Raiders jacket. Keep wearing both and loosen them up even more.

Your cowhide looks awesome! I'm torn as to my next Nowak to add to my collection...the 747 cowhide or the Holy Goat. Whisky, how does the weight of the cowhide compare to your shrunken lamb?
