My Journey: Paris ---> London ---> Wested Leathers ... =)

Post by Kladd »

Hi EveryOne ...
On the Day 04/30/09 ... I went with my wife in London ... Just for the day ...
Of course, 1 of the objective was, for me, to go to Wested Leathers to catch an Indiana Jones Jacket ...
First of all, I'm not a Screen Accurate Maniac, so ...
We took the train at 07.13 at "Gare du Nord" ... After nearly 2 hours of travel, we arrived at St Pancras Station ...
After that, we had to take another train to go at Swanley, In Kent area ... almost 45/50 minutes ...
I tought we could go by foot at the factory from the station, but ... It was not the better option, so, we took a cab ... It was a nice trip anyway ... =)
At last ... Wested Leathers !!!
I was SOOOOOOOOOO happy ...
The first person We had to meet was Gemma ... She is really nice ... I told her I wanted an Indy Jacket ... The "Raiders" is my favorite ... And I ask to see the "Washed Goat" version ...
Darn ... This leather is SOOO Soft ... !!! ...
The quality is here !!! ...
Peter came down & we talked a little ...
As you can see, my english is not very good so, I had little problems to show my enthusiasm ... ...
So, In the end, I tried a lamb version of the raiders, and a last crusade version, just to make sure ...
Raiders in washed lamb was a crush on me!!! :D ...
Peter show us is work on the last wolverine jacket from the new movie ... !!!
Trust me ... It was AWSOME !!!!!!!
So, Gemma & Peter are Sooooooooooo Nice & Patient ...
They help me to find the better jacket for me and now ... I'm an Happy guy ...
Gemma, Peter ... Thanks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Mutch for everythings ...
My visit to them was 1 of the best part of this (too) short day in Great Britain ...
But I'll be back ... =)

Good to hear that you enjoyed your trip!
But their new Wolverine jacket doesn't look a bit like in the movie.

Even their X-Men 1 jacket is more accurate as this one
Wested did not make any of their Wolverine jackets for the movie itself!

If I understood well ...
I say IF ...
The jacket he show us was used for the promotion for the new movie ...
But trust me, the picture don't do justice for the quality of the jacket ...
There is lots of stichs & details ... It's amazing ...
To be simple, I just want this jacket ... And it will me my next purchase at wested ... :D

Sounds like a good time. You bought the washed Lamb Raiders?

I bought The Washed Goat ... Because I know it's more "durable" ...
But it drapes me so well ... Just like lamb ...
I tried the authentic lamb ... It was great but too shiny ... and less surable ...
The choice was mutch clear for me ... :)

kinda hard to say on a mannequin and not a real person, but the details look spot on!

Sounds like a really cool trip, and I can only wish some day I'll be lucky enough to follow in your footsteps! :)

By the way, is it just me, or does it seem like there has been a real scarcity lately of Wested 'trips'? I'd be very interested to read (and see) more about their studio!

Watch the movie, watch the trailers. I haven't found good pictures of the new movie. It's too new.
But even their half stripes on the jacket are purley imagination. They wasn't half stripes on the movie jacket.

And I still don't know what they have done to the collar!

Actually the movie jacket doesn't have the stripes that go all the way around:
Again I think it looks really good. I don't know what you mean about the collar though.

I'm digging that story - living in the UK and often working in the London area means that I too have been to the shop. last time i was there i manged to snaffle the last MKVII used bag which was great. Ill be going again for a jacket in the Autumn - a nice shop and coolly tucked away too :) Its nice to be have Wested in the UK :)
